Cobalt SS LNF Turbo Upgrade Kit: Official Update
by Corey Mullane Filed Under: Product News
We first want to thank all of you for your excitement around this new upgrade kit and all of your support for not only GMTunerSource.com but for GM as a company. It means a lot to us and we take it very seriously. Today marks a great day for many of you, as we bring awesome news about the highly anticipated LNF Upgrade Kit for the Cobalt SS.
The folks over at GM Performance Parts have been working non-stop for all of the Cobalt SS owners to bring them a package that not only will give their Cobalt a swift kick in the pants but also keep their factory warranty. This does not come easy and we have been working with all of the guys over at GMPP to make sure we give all of you the latest and greatest while the kit is under development. After many meetings on this subject and going back and forth, we just received word today on the details and there is good news from the group at GMPP.
The LNF Upgrade Kit for the Cobalt SS will be available for purchase within 90 days from your GM Dealership. One of the reasons for this delay is the new inlet duct and air cleaner that was developed especially for this kit to give your Cobalt SS the best all-weather protection and tire melting performance you expect from a GM Performance Part. As some of you will recognize, these inlet parts were not part of the original LNF Turbo Upgrade Kit. For all of you Cobalt owners that have waited, the wait is worth it as this kit is designed specifically for your car and has been developed with top performance and reliability in mind. Of course, the kit will also be 50 state CARB legal so you can enjoy it no matter where you may reside. The Cobalt SS LNF Turbo Upgrade Kit will also produce 290hp like the original LNF Upgrade Kit so prepare the neighborhood: the Cobalt SS is about to take back the streets!

weak... more money for the same power.
shitty move.
Can we order it without the intake/air duct garbage?
thats REALLY upsetting for me up here in Canada, the normal kit is already over $1000 so now there is going to be this air intake too? whats that going to be another 250-350$ plus install...
thumbs down.. UNLESS the canadian dealers stop ripping us off.

AlfaJag. I take it all back. You're an all right guy. Just so you don't carry a grudge, I was talking about GM not you. Peace and Happy Trails.
I have to go to bed not. Gotta get some rest for my hemorhoid removal tomorrow morning. Then I WILL be an ass.

I am only feeling more justified about my move of getting a spare ECU and tune which cost me less then half of the amount this kit will probably cost....and I am still producing more power with no drivability change.
To be honest I was expecting a bit more out of this kit with a delay such as this.
I had a similar thought....more parts for the same power as the other LNF upgrade kits?...certain to cost $800 or more here in the states....and labor is an unknown.....

They seriously should have just given us the same thing as everyone else....
Screwed up a good thing IMO.
Please surprise me with reasonable pricing, PLEASE.
I will not make an opinion till after the release and the #'s and track times are in. Could be underated numbers blah blah , oh and the whole WARRANTY thing is still the shizzle.
Honestly sounds great, when the warranty runs out , I will have the better sensors and intake and just get a reflash for $250 that could possibly net more. Thanks for releasing the kit.

Now the best part of this news release is to flame all the hundreds of "my [uncle] says it isn't coming out" posts
That should keep us busy for just about as long as it will take for us to all buy the kit... And then all you have to do is get it installed! Works out great!

I have a feeling that the kit is going to cost considerably more than the other LNF kits. I'm going to guess 1,100 with labor and all that good stuff. The only thing that would be cool to see is how much more power can be made with these new sensor positions and such with an aftermarket tune on top of the "canned" tune.
I will wait and not order the trifecta, but if it costs that much I'll still go with trifecta. 1/20th the cost of the car for a tune? Seems steep to me, although we don't KNOW what the cost will be yet.
It'll be a long tough wait and I certainly hope it pays off. I was so close to payin up and getting psykotuned because I thought the day would never come. Now I'll just have to get one after these new sensors are on instead!
Im with you... Im waiting but if its too much Im going aftermarket, probably trifecta...or a local custom. Its not worth the warranty if the price is that high for a "canned" tune. If something breaks Id rather fix it myself.
i wanna keep the warranty so bad but these numbers honestly disappoint me, especially if this is not at the wheels. for 1/3 of gm's price i can have 305 whp. idk wtf im gonna do. this is gonna drive me insane for the next three months
