zzp s256et tuning session one
Started tuning my s256et after the install was completed. Car is on 24psi now, 14 degrees timing and is a beast. Very happy. Plugs are gapped at .29 but car is misfiring up top 6300 to 7400. Plugs are brand new. Car is way faster than my e47 fully bolted stock turbo car which put down 360 434. Mods are zzp's turbo kit, 3 inch zzp exhaust, zzp intercooler, ecm boost control and tial 38mm wastegate. ZZP is NOT tuning this car....this is my friend tuning it and modifying a base tune they sent me.
Any thoughts if I should tighten the plugs up more to .25?
There is very little lag with this setup, i'm impressed.

Sounds exactly like injection window misfire to me. You are likely past the injection window in the higher RPMs (the higher the RPM the shorter the injection window). At 24psi you should be able to run stock plug gap no issues. You need to advance the injection timing and raise the WOT fuel pressure a little as well.

I forgot to say, we had timing low because we weren't sure what boost we were running, misfiring was prevalent. When we added a bit of timing, misfiring went almost away but there still is a little.

Thanks term. we will look into that issue to see what is going on. for anyone who wants to know the lag on this kit positive pressure is at 3100 full boost by 3500 to 3600.

Factory boost control. i am running e10 94octane we get here in canada. ya i am running autolites right now. that is what zzp sent for free. i am stock iridiums in my basement.
We don't have numbers yet, but car loved being switched from 0.83 to 0.86 lambda. Not sure if that is the sweet spot, what has anyone else found?

I would recommend stock plugs at .032". Remember, you can always send me a scan if you want some help with the tune.
Do you have stock valvesprings or upgraded?

Yup ZZP valvesprings and retainers
Car doesn't have the instant get up and go the stock turbo did on e47, but once she spools it's a night and day difference, and it's scary cuz i can't even rev her out to 7400 cuz i'm getting misfires and shutting her down. I'm cutting her off at 6300.
Thanks Matt M, I will send you an email if we need some help. You guys at ZZP have been a great assistance from day 1.
Very impressed with the trubo. Cool and stable IAT2s and by the wastegate duty cycle numbers she's not even trying at 24psi.

It was the plugs. Autolites are gone and were replaced with stock plugs gapped at .25. The car instantly ran smoother overall. No misfires right through to fuel cutoff. Tuning session two is thursday. We hope to make more progress.
