Exclamation 110 Octane Can our SS/SC use it?

I drove passed a gas station the other night and the sign said torco racing fuel so i stopped to check to see how much a gallon was just for the hell of it. It was 5.99. But my question is can our cars use 110 Octane? Without any problems or damaged caused?

the lead will leave deposits on the valves, foul o2 sensors, clog cats, ect. i highly recomend avoiding leaded fuels.

110 octane unleaded would work, however without tuning for it your actualy going to hurt performance

I wrote GM and asked about this because I know a place that sells 110 octane unleaded racing fuel.

GM said it would NOT void my warranty if I used it. They said the octane must be above 91, but there is no upper limit.

I think it gives an extra kick, but not really sure.

Unless you tuned for it, all it's going to do is prevent any knock. With a stock car, I doubt you were getting any knock anyway. So there will be no difference.

It shouldn't make a difference unless you tune for it. Octane basically slows down the flame front in the CC when the spark ignites it. On a stockish car, you won't see much change, you could actually lose power due to a similar effect as retarding timing. I know when I've run 104 and the nitrous, you can actually feel the difference. Car loves that ****. Its a little expensive though, anything over 100 octane unleaded is about $8-10 a gallon around here.

i use vp ms 109 unleaded race fuel everytime i goto the track. car loves it. i get no knock whatsoever. you can mix it also with any other unleaded fuel. im not tuned for it but it helps performance a lot. hurts performance? hell no! if you were tuned for it you could pull more timing and gain quite a bit. all in all way better then 91 or 93.

I can get 112 unleaded for 3.99/gallon IIRC.

you realize they probably kept note that you were looking for "RACING" fuel.....

Just on 100 octane, I was able to hit 24 degrees of timing...From a tune that ran 15 on 93....the car hauled...but the 100 by me is like 8 bux a gallon now

For those of you who think running race fuel is helping your performance it's all in your head. I'm sorry but it is. If you think different it just shows your ignorance of the subject. Higher octane only has a greater resistance to knock and has nothing to do with horsepower. It's a big myth that sadly a lot of people here believe.

Unless you are tuned race fuel is just a waste of your money.
