really? what do you think about a 400whp cobalt running a 2.5" exhaust

anyways, i'm not going to get into the argument again, cause it's useless to argue on the internet when people think that google research qualifies them to be smarter than people with degrees in engineering

i think you may want to pay attention to what your'e typing.

if you meant 2.25, that's great. but he'd be better of with a 2.5. i never said that 2.25 isn't going to get the job done, only that 2.5 is going to provide much better top end gain which is where the power generally shifts when you start talking about making large amounts of power. it outflows 2.25, period. there's really no debate.

there comes a point when larger is not better, obviously a 4" exhaust is going to hurt velocity and exhaust flow, but when talking 1/4" increments, the 2.5 is actually better because it's bigger. and again, there are stipulations to that rule, boosted vehicle's will see different results when compared with n/a vehicles, but for the most part the 2.5 is going to be better. even n/a

like i said, i won't get into this debate again, it's completely useless. if you knew what you were talking about and not basing information on assumptions, you would be the one designing exhausts for borla, and that engineer would be sitting on a car forum arguing about how the engineers don't know what they're doing.

fart cans sound like fart cans no matter what car they're on UNLESS you have a turbo.
Well ya. That and the fact they tested it on the Boxer engine tend to play a role in how it will sound haha.

A lot of my exhaust is still 2.25", some is even smaller than that due to a couple nasty bends. It does alright, imo. I'm planing on switching to a full 2.5" cat-back soon, so I won't know myself if its better until then. I doubt you'll ever get a definite answer here, considering the amount of different opinions floating around. I think it basically depends on what mods you're running, where your boost is as opposed to where it should be, etc.

I suggest getting this exhaust. Its 2.5 inch all mandrel bent and you get your choice of mufflers.

05-10 CHEVY COBALT EXHAUST - BOLT ON - (ALUMINIZED - 2.5 IN)

Now another slighty cheaper option would be to get ottp's 2.5 inch over the axel kit for 95 bucks and then buy a cheap muffler from the shop and have it all welded. This pipe replaces the 2.25 section of your stock exhaust then you will have a custom 2.5 inch exhaust.

CTI 2.5 Over Axel Replacement for after market muffler - Over The Top Performance
