Bank 1 too lean code??

2006 cobalt ss/sc (bank one too lean) code, the motor is stock. the cai is already ruled out. same code with stock airbox. maf is original and clean. the car has had this issue since in bought it. i had a warranty motor job and the tech flashed the car for a 2005. the code didnt come back afterwards but i had other issues. reflashed the car recently to the correct 2006 flash and within a few miles the car started codeing. and immediately went into engine reduce power. i reset the computer cleared the code and now it doesnt shut down but still codes. the injectors are stock. anyone else experience this on their ride? i have a few theories but id like some help ruling them out.

HOw did you manage on rulling the cai out? Did you log the car and verify trims are within reason and did you look at the narrow band readings to see what cruise Mvs are?

p0171 is caused by trims being out of wack, either exhaust leak, intake leak somewhere or just shitty trims from having a screwed airflow!

the dealer flashed the ecu, and it didn't run correctly when it was an 05 it just didn't throw this code or any codes. it would misfire at high mph and rpm occasionally. since being flashed to an 06 the correct year the car now throws this lean code and thats what is throwing me off. what is the difference between 05 and 06 as far as mapping goes. this is where i think i have to start to determine what the actual problem is. i'm not looking to be showed up be someone who may know more than me so if ur not on here with the purpose to just lend a hand or some info. dont bother chimeing in thanks.

Have you had the stock airbox back on with the 06 flash long enough for the car to re-learn it's self which is a drive cycle or two? Did you make sure to re-set the computer (disconnect Neg battery terminal for 10-15 min?) when you put the stock airbox back on after the correct 06 flash? Normally a bank one lean code is the MAF Hz exceeding it's normal range cause of a CAI. My 07 did it back in the day! If it's missing also you may have other problems.. Subaru exhaust note?

If you have a CAI and the lean code you have to tune it to either turn it off or accept the higher Hz range of 15K+. I saw your thread where your stock and having a lean code id get the car logged to see what the MAF is reading as it may have gone bad.

took off the injen intake, modified the stock air box, and now the car runs like a dream. I seriously think what dub sak said is right, but im not paying to get it tuned for that little amount of upgrades. Im gonna wait till i can get stage 2 and some other goodies first. Thank you guys for all your help!!!!

Well I just got the lean code yesterday, I don't think it'd be from my intake since I've had it on for a couple years and just now got it.. No exhaust leaks but I'm going to try and install the factory intake and go from there

If it's unusually cold in your area when you were driving then it may be.. If you have the software to log id do that just to be safe! Funny to me how vander bolds everything but what i said and it being right...

pull up data stream and see if your within the parameters, then pull a vacuum line and see if the 02 sensor compensates for the vacuum leak, if not then there's your problem

I have the Fujita F5 intake and when its 38-40 degrees (air is most dense) I'll get a lean code too. Can't tell if the stock air box would fix it since I bought the intake before the car, 6 years ago lol. Conveniently enough, I get the CEL right around when I need to inspect the car, in February. I haven't had the code for about 10 days, I think I can chance it now lol.
