It's rather easy actually.I blew mine up on spray, ripped the entire car apart and drove it to the dealer. Got it back, reinstalled it. Blew it up a 2nd time and removed it a 2nd time. As it sits now with a forged motor the kit is reinstalled for the 3rd time.

06 - I did have some hop that night yea so its possibly a cracked tranny case.

damien - i broke my back in 3 places in a car accident, its pretty difficult for me to do my own work and all of my lines are hidden and I have a lot of automatic/remote things. There is quite a bit of wiring to do with it, and I would still have to explain all of the switches lol. I would rather not remove it unless I absolutely have to.

Paul - If it is a cracked tranny case and not a rear main seal or a tranny seal of some sort, would this be replaceable or would I need a whole new tranny? That may sound like a dumb question but I don't know if you can just go and buy a tranny case or if thats something that is only sold with a tranny.

edit: They won't do the warranty work because of the nitrous however there not voiding my warranty or anything. He recommended I take the nitrous off and call another gm dealership. The only problem I might have getting the work done via warranty is because of the b&m sts.

going to need a new trans, they could swap everything with a new case, but god I would never let a dealership do that considering all the special tools needed to work on the, plus it operates on some pretty tight tolerances.
If that is the case and they won't replace it, you can find them online from $600-$1000 usually.

Oh that really sucks, I wish there was a way to know if it was a cracked case or a seal. I don't want to have to buy a new tranny or a used tranny for that matter. I guess the next step is to take the nitrous off and try to have it warrantied.

If I knew it was a cracked tranny case I would put it back to stage 2 and make gm deal with it but if its just a seal then I can have my local shop drop the tranny, replace my clutch and flywheel and the seal and have them reinstall it at a very reasonable price. But I am afraid if they drop the tranny and its a cracked case that im gonna be pissed/screwed. AHHH I hate this.

Cant other shops besides GM dealers do warranty work, as long as there certified. If so, see if the dyno shop or a shop where you know the people well is certified and have them do the work and bill GM for it under warranty.

I just called a dealership and they said no an actual GM shop has to do the work, but maybe the guy was wrong. I really hope that he is because the dyno shop is really certified and will say whatever to get it warrantied.

edit: yea I just double checked and an actual GM Certified tech from like a dealership must do the work for it to be covered under warranty.

I LOVE LOOP HOLES. I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM.

OK so far here is the story. When I bought the car, I bought one of those stupid EXTENDED 60month 75,000 mile warranties. Well I am going to have the dyno shop call them and tell them whats wrong with the car and they are going to see if they will cover it. If they start to take it apart and its the actual tranny case and not just the seal then they will cover that as well. Basically as it is now, I am just waiting for conformation from the shop that the extended contract people will cover the costs and let them do the work.

Edit: If this goes through, which I will know by the end of today I very well might end up with a whole new transmission.

Read that wrong. Thought you were saying that the dealers were only allowed to do warranty work not other stuff.
Even still, depends what warranty you have, if it's the car manufacturers warranty, then yes the dealer. If it's aftermarket warranty, any shop can do it.

If its the cars stock warranty GM has to do it, if its an aftermarket warranty then any shop can do it.

Edit: luckily I have both. GM won't be able to do it, but the aftermarket warranty MIGHT be able to do it. That's what I am waiting to here back from now.

I hope it does too, I will know by 5pm today whether or not they will do the warranty work. However if they don't my problem comes down to this.

When the shop drops the tranny if its just the rear main seal or a tranny seal or something like that I can handle that cost, however if its a crack tranny case and I need a new tranny I can't afford 2500 dollars for a new tranny.

So basically if for whatever reason the warranty work can't get done then I am going to have to hope and pray that I don't need a new tranny.

Not sure really, I've had an offer of $750 from a local guy but he started to lowball me when it actually came down to it. I'd take $750 plus shipping I guess, don't know what it would cost to ship though.

you broke it, you fix it. you pay to play.

Get your hands dirty and drop the subframe and check out what you broke. It's really not that hard.
