Dan

The part that I was overlooking was the fact that the supercharger is a slave to the engine RPM and builds pressure as the RPM's increase regardless of what the engine wants..leading to the massive pumping losses induced on the system - Even with a bypass system installed, you are attemping to minimize the pumping losses by venting pressure, however there is still parastic drag and wasted pumping. It is different with a turbo as you can control the turbo RPM independant of the engine RPM and in effect get the disired flow and pressure ratios that you want no matter what the engine is doing..this is what makes a turbo harder to tune but more of an "elastic" solution if you can spend the time learning and fine tuning the system. I supercharger spins up when the crankshaft tell it to. A turbo does not care about what the engine is doing...it spins up when YOU want it to (provided you have sized the turbo properly for your application).

Isn't forced induction fun!?!

Be sure to note in your article how the Gen 5 Blowers use a 60 degree helical twist in the rotors to smooth out the pulses of air.
