Well fellas, I just got back last night from Austin, TX for my GF's 21st b-day. As most of you know I've had two CEL's, the "engine lean" and "PCM internal malfunction" code for almost two weeks. Well on the way to Austin my CEL went out and suddenly the car felt MUCH smoother @ idle, and through the whole power-band. I don't have any factual info, but the SOTP definitely attest to it. The car "feels" like it pulls harder and for the first time, it hit 12.5psi. I don't know what happened, whether it was the long drive or what, but I thought with all the 2006 vs 2005 PCM threads I would chime in. I've had the K&N for about a month and when I spoke to Modern they told this would basically happen, yhat I'd get a CEL for a month or so and then the PCM would adjust to it. Now as far as the "PCM internal Malfunction" code, I don't know how that got fixed (granted it doesn't come on again), but I think that was the major contributing factor to why the car feels so much better. I haven't gotten any re-flashes or anything either, although I probably should enquire to the dealership about it.

 

should have taken the car in had them fix/ replace the brain. I have heard the PCM internal malfunction code can be bad news. not just a reflash and fixed. But I am not sure since I did not have it personally

I wanted to chim in and say that on my SS/SC for the first time the CEL light came on leaving a place when I first started it up. It wasn't till next day that it went away with a fill up with different gas (different octane then 93). I didn't find out what the code was that came on but no difference in how it ran. Just that stupid light came on. No light since.

 

It's the magic of Austin.

Good news! This is promising, I had a feeling the PCM would start learning sooner or later. But definitly have the PCM internal malfunction checked out. It just doesn't sound good!

 

Mine has started to turn off, but then comes back on. It seems as though each time it goes off, it takes it longer to come back on. So I'm hoping mine is on the way out. Congrats Tofu!

this is funny we are congradulating each other on our cel's going off haha.

 

Mine went off for the first time on saturday. Drove the car today and it came back on. It shut off for 40 miles and then came back on.
