crap engine
I owned a 2002 LX Civic coupe. It was a 5-speed. Before the 36,000 mile warranty was up, I had these problems: 2 new alternators, drivers side power window replaced, fuel pump, and power steering went bad. After everything was fixed under warranty, at about 55,000 miles, my cv joints started to click. yes I said it, cv-joints. That is fucked up. Oh ya, my key faub stopped working at about 42,000 miles also. I did change the batteries. This just shows that any car company can have **** cars. I bought the civic because I was told that they are invincible and would last to at least 150,000 miles with good maintenance. Boy did this car prove that theory wrong.
I was just playing around.
I think logevity has a lot to do with driver and maintenance. Plus a 4 cylinder should last longer with have as much motor to go bad.
I think Honda got a good name in the late 80's early 90's and never lost it.
How long do some of the early ecotecs last? We have members over 100k already.

I'm not knocking the 2.2, i used to have one. The engine is great. It's the build quality thats the huge factor both my 2.2 and 2.0sc's build quality sucks. I've had numorous problems with pieces falling off and suspension knocks on both my cobalts and i was within 35,000 miles on both cars. I'm not going to waste my time listing all the problems, but i had my dealer run all the times my SC has been in the shop prior to my owning and there was a list of over 30 problems with the damn thing.
My buddy's 97 civic (I've never told him this) feels newer than my car to drive.
yeah sounds like something is up with the tuning. do ur self a favor, instead of going to the dealership, either find another reputable dealership and go there or find a reputable dyno shop that can dyno tune ur car. it sounds like something is jacked up in the tuning.
no, https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/title-edit-reign-ss-115589/ <----that thread is awesome
so, my engine is basically garbage. It has 22k on it and it runs like a pinto IMO. I can't get it fixed because the repair shop says it's "fast as hell! Sweet! faster than my car....DUH!" they are all idiots. They say that because there is no engine light or code, there is no problem. Ive tried and tried to come up with a reason. So, Heres my question. What can i do to blow the engine without making it look like it was set up? I figure this is the only way I will get it fixed. Well, I would get a new engine actually. Any Ideas?

Take the car to someone who know what they are doing-not the same dipshits who fucked it up in the first place.
Theres a funny vid of a guy passed out drunk in a volvo or audi int he parking lot of a football stadium with his foot on the accelerator and the engine at full revs smoking. Someone opens his door and wakes him up and it's all on video LOL!
Neutral Ebrake on and gas to floor, hell while you are at it, have a distant friend steal it and blow it up.
Then your insurance will cover it and our rates will go up and we will hate you.

rig up a NOS system, then run a 350 shot. you'll smile for a second...then BOOM. then you'll laugh and say "That was ******* awesome!"
another thing you might want to consider...
empty your coolant....then let the car run.

These engines are tough as hell, John Lingenfelter and Brent proved that.
