ok i just read through this whole thing and felt the need to share my knowledge as well...

the question posted earlier about adding more due to spinning it faster... that's similar to adding more tranny fluid to your tranny if you rev it higher due to a rev limiter increase. not necessary...

here's why: on the snout, there are 8 bolts, they go through to the blower casing... inbetween the casing and the snout, is where the coupler and gears are for spinning both rotors off the one pulley. in there, is where the oil resides. you need enough oil (Eaton clearly states 3.4OZ) and that is enough to have the bottom of the gears coated in oil. When they spin, stock RPMs or faster due to a pulley swap, the oil is flung around and coats all the gears just fine! It is a perfectly acceptable amount of oil, and is the correct amount.

Think of it like this: if you take a circular saw and go through a piece of wood 1/2" thick, it'll cut just fine right? take another piece of wood 1/2" thick and cut throuhg both of em. The saw has to work a bit harder to cut through both. Same principle with the gears in the oil. Sure, there's more oil and therefore it coats the gears maybe a bit better, but you want to lube the gears, not soak the **** out of em. The oil is like elmer's glue... didn't your teacher say you only need a little bit, and that more isn't necessarily better?

ZZP states you need 6oz? I read that you'll need a "6oz bottle" because they sell it in 6oz bottles, but not that you need the whole thing. If they do, then they are wrong. I trust Eaton and everything I've read, because this is the 2nd Eaton SC'ed car I've owned, I had a 91 T-Bird SC with an Eaton M90 on it, and that required 8oz then when I looked the info up in '02 when the snout bearing failed and I rebuilt it.

6oz won't kill your SC, it just doesn't neeeed that much! If you want to sleep safer cuz you're spinning it faster, throw 3.8oz in of a 4oz bottle, have .2oz leftover to rub one out with and call it a day.

to sum things up.... 3.4 OUNCES!!! THAT'S IT!!

/Thread.

LOL... thank my father for the thread revival...

HOLY CRAP BATMAN! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!

Scotch89 is another brilliant individual who takes all information handed to them and completely flushes it down the toilet! My god man, 3.4 OUNCES! 2 BOTTLES IS TOO MUCH!!!

The amount of oil required for a EATON M62 (OUR COBALTS) is.... (drumroll, please)

3.4 OUNCES!!!!

I was showing my dad this thread simply because we were having a laugh at all of the misinformed people in the world, and this thread struck me as one of the most clusterfucked i've ever read. We are fairly knowledgeable fellas who have been working on cars for many many years together. Some people just make us laugh, like when a guy with a gt500 recently told us "my blower runs on engine oil! Are you callin me an idiot?!" lmao. anywho...

do people not read? I'll make it clear for any1 who stumbles upon the last page of this thread: 8 Ounces is WRONG

Right amount... 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES! 3.4 OUNCES!

Scotch89, can't wait to read your "my SC blew up" thread
