Fuel injector retaining clip

Saturday I was installed my 2.8, 60's, belt, all that new crap. Well, when I was switching out my injectors, I knocked one of the retaining clips off my car where I had sat it, and couldn't find the damn thing. Searched for a good hour... I'm guess it's sitting on the k frame or something that I just can't see. (and no, it didn't fall in the intake. I had towels in that to keep crap out.)

I just finished putting it all together, thinking I'll deal with it later.

Well, I should be getting my computer back from it's tune in the next day or so, and wanted to know just how important that tiny metal clip is before I start the car up and possibly cause some sort of damage. They don't seem like they really hold things in that much. Seems like the fuel rail holds everything in place just fine, but what do I know.

So, do I need that clip?
If so, where the hell do I get one. I searched rockauto, autozone, gmpartsdirect, searched the forums, and can't seem to find a place to buy one of these random ass pieces.

No, I can't go to some store, can't go to the junkyard, as I don't have a running car right now. I've been walking to work. I need a place to order it online, or just told it's not important.

IDK man...I think once you put the fuel rail in and bolt it down they should stay in place...you just might wanna move that injector to the end where the rail bolts are.

It's my #1 injector that doesn't have the clip right now. Everything is pushed in firm, lubed up. *shrugs*

Got an e-mail back from that company.

"Sorry, we do not stock clips. Most people don't re-use them."

so, i'm going to assume that it'll be fine when I start the car up today. I'll just keep a close eye on it for awhile, and worse comes to worse, I drive up to the dealer and order a new one.

You will be fine. I would still put one in though. Yes you can order them from the dealer (by themselves). I lost 1 or 2 when I put the 36# stubbies in my boosted Cavalier. I ordered a couple from the local GM Parts Dept.

Yeap, everything is fine. Started up the car with the new computer, no leaks or anything.

So, for people reading this, and for future reference, clips are not needed. I just imagine if/when I take the fuel rail off, i'm going to have a helluva mess
