Cuz they know that if they tell us that there is only 1 reflash, everyone will buy stage 1 and their own pulley. Then most of the stage 2's will just still on the shelf. Its annoying not knowing the exact answer but I can understand where they are comming from.

[QUOTE=alleycat58]Here is what I was referring to:

Let me quote the poster and give some understanding. The last line idem says (Combines injectors and calibration(meaning a reflash) with supercharger pulley and belt for more power.

So if I am reading that right they do say it will need a reflash. I mean thats what I understand calibration to mean.

I hope this helps everyone to understand that stage 2 will need a new reflash.

They have 4 Cobalt SS S/C cars being tuned up and moded right now.

This is what I was told as of last week.
Stage one and stage two reflashes have a differant part #. Not the kits but just the reflashs them selves. They looked this up some how by cross referancing the parts like you would if you need say one injector becouse yours went bad.

Now he put in a call and talked to his contact at GM and was told that this info is correct and that the stage 1 dose not account for the higher boost of the smaller pully. It will still bleed your boost off at X RPM (It has been changed) and that it will alow more b0ost then stock but only 1-1.5 PSI Befor it kills your fun.

This is why the stage one to stage two upgrade comes with a new reflash AGEN!

I hope this makes sens to you. If not I dont know what els to say.

Also a 3" pully at 7K will spin your S/C to 14K. Thats its redline.

Later

does this mean that we will soon be able to have a 7k redline? cause im sick of this 6500 crap.... especially with the 3 inch pully..... just comes much to fast....lol

Thank god someone else actually read the poster besides me. Hearing this debate on every forum is like screwing the same woman over and over, year after year. It says right under stage 2 a performance engine calibration, i think its pretty clear.

Alright, so if there are 2 flashes, I still have another question:

Do you guys think you will be able to run a 2.8 inch pulley on the stage 1 reflash? If not, would a maf-t solve that issue?

I would think this would depend on whether or not stage 1 bumps up the rev limiter. If it does the 2.8 pulley might over spin your supercharger past its redline. If not I dont know you may be able to run it but the ecu may not give you the best performance available from the smaller pulley

I know if they raise the rev limiter to 7 grand the 2.8 will over spin it. I think at redline it will be at like ~15,000 rpm and at about 6533 rpm it will be at 14,000.

However, I want to know if a maf translator make the stage 1 kit perform better with the 2.8 inch pulley?

shcw: No, it comes with a 3 inch.

It also says high flow fuel injectors...are they going to make us buy those twice too? What's confusing is that that picture lists stage 2 with stage 1 included, but it only lists ONE engine calibration, not caibrations. That's why everyone is confused.

This past weekend was Autorama in Detroit. GMPP was there. They had the "official" billboard describing the Stage 1 & 2 kits. It distinctly referred to different PCMs for the stages and even different sets of injectors. The PCMs and injectors between Stage 1 & 2 ARE IN FACT DIFFERENT.

I also talked to the representative from GMPP, and he said that they will start releasing the stage kits starting this month. But he also siad they will be releasing a supercharger too....don't know if he didn't understand what I was asking, or old and senile

Unfortunately, they did not have a very impressive display, only a billboard for the stage kits set up next to a HHR with a SB V-8 (sprint car motor) RWD conversion. I would have thought they would have been knee deep in cobalts and corvettes there, but GMR wasn't even present. Kinda dissappointing.

In fact, only 2 Cobalts were at the show...Bob Mull's Vision (in a little corner display in the basement ) & the Grip Tuning Cobalt (on the main floor with a very nice display).
