Got pulled over again!

I need some help! I got pulled over again for a loud exhaust. I have a 06 ss/sc with a vibrant header freeflowing cat and corsa turning cat back exhaust. What can I do? Does anyone sell something to baffel the sound? It can be permenment or not.

Thanks
Jesse

This and/or get a resonator and have a local shop weld it in unless you can do it yourself.

Get a dB test done of your exhaust, and fight that **** in court.

I have a full Vibrant exhaust (catted) and they certify that their exhausts are 95dB or lower..
(microphone at a distance from the exhaust, up to 4k?? on rpm)

I don't understand? Yeah, the Vibrant headers are loud to me, I do not like them but that cat back is not loud, certainly not beyond the legal limit. I'd settle it in court. As long as your catted it should not be crazy loud. You'd never even notice my Corsa Touring other than it's deepness below 3k.

Sorry man, that stinks

Before you change anything I would research on what exactly is the allowed DB for your county and then get a db test done to compare then if you're with in legal limits I'd fight it. just my 0.02

I've got clear image header, full 3" cat back w/cat, maganaflow res, and HAD a maganflow muffler and my car was LOUD AS ****!!!!!! It ALWAYS got me looks from the boys in blue. I never got pulled over specifically for my exhaust but when I got pulled over for other things, my exhaust was always mentioned and I was told it was illegal and I could be ticketed. I never got a ticket for the exhaust but I did not like all the POLICE attention. So I had to switch to the super turbo to quiet it down.

LSJs can be a B**** to keep quiet. Add a resonator or a bigger muffler and see if that helps.

Know all applicable laws for your state. Unfortunatly in my state (WA), you can not do any modifications that make your exhaust louder than stock.

Wow that's a picky cop for sure.

I have a Badmab shorty header, Random Technology 3" to 2.75" catless downpipe, and Corsa Touring catback. When I'm just cruising you can barely hear it. The only time my exhaust is loud is during WOT runs, and it's still quieter than 90% of the SS/SC's with full exhaust setups I've heard. Then again cops dont really pull people over for loud exhausts in PA.

Hope everything works out for you man.

This ^^^^ is what a cop told me before but i always argue with the cop on how you can let loud ass ******* POS harley's drive around but your pulling me over for a loud exhaust They don't normally have a answer and let me go it has worked about 10 times and failed once. But being polite and respectful helps "yes sir" "no sir" and hands on the wheel with registration and insurance cards.

It's very true, trust me. The judge quoted RCW 46.37.390 to me in court while I tried to argue my case.

It's section 3 of this law in the link.

This just irritates me. Harleys can have basically no exhaust and never get a look. I mean I can be sitting in my living room and this guy down the street comes by with his custom harley and it rattles the damn pictures on the wall!

Yeah, the laws are just stupid on this stuff. WI is another state where your vehicle cannot be louder than it was stock. It doesn't matter that it is quieter than every sports car built, just that it is louder than it was from the factory. Most aftermarket direct replacement mufflers are technically illegal by this definition as well.

Support Sema's efforts to resolve these issues.

It's my understanding the bikes are allowed to have a louder exhaust to warn motorists they're around. Motorcycles are like Anne Frank on the road sometimes, they hide everywhere.

Try searching for a silencer that you insert into the tail pipe. It's easy to put on and take off. Cheap and could do the trick. I have one on my TC catback.
