Losing Boost

Title explains it all. GM Stage II, 2.8" pulley, Injen CAI

When I first got the 2.8", I was getting 17.3-17.4 PSI at the top of second gear.

I could only muster a 16.8 today....and it actually dropped from 16.8 to 16.6 just before I hit redline. Haven't noticed anything else noticable. Whats the deal here?

Was your car under similar conditions too? Perhaps the engine temp was a little hotter, this could also account for the drop in max boost since during the time you were revving it up the heat could have been working against you. I am assuming you were in the same gear as before. Also, could your intake filter be dirtier?

I am not sure because I haven't seen mine since putting it on but I would think so. Maybe you can get away with taking just a few screws out of the wheel well and pulling it back to peer inside. Or, if you don't have the time just open it up even once in a while to check and make sure you don't keep systematically losing boost. Good luck and keep us posted.

your belt could be stretching and you may need to tighten it just a bit.

I took my cai off after about 5000 miles. I had the K&N with drycharger covering on it. WOW, when I took that cover off, dirt started to pour out. It was trapped between the cover and the outside of the filter itself. I was surprised. But now i'm running the stock intake and looking to go to the airbox mod
