We don't know yet. No one has that much power yet going through the engine. Only time will tell.

I want the stock compression pistons forged....I don't want to change the compression ratio

280whp sounds like the limit to me. More than that and you have a ticking time bomb without the proper mods.

290 whp is the limit of the stage1/2 injectors.

see thats not that bad. because u can up the boost a good bit when u have aftermarket pistons right? but then its worrying about the stock Supercharger. Whats the HP max for the Intense Injectors?

If you go with higher compression pistons, you should actually be able to drop boost but still make the same power. You won't have to spin the blower so fast to make power. Unless you're crazy like me and Rob, we'll probably up the compression AND run a 2.6" pulley.

I've heard the stock internals can take up to 450.

I don't know of anyone who has lost pistons yet to having too much power. We don't have the mods yet.

Correct, nobody has yet. Once tuning software becomes available, then we'll start seeing where the true weaknesses are. At that time, we can do more serious stuff like cams, head, tubo swaps, etc. According to a reliable source, the stock pistons fail somewhere close to 325 to 350 flywheel horserpower. 280 whp is roughly ~322 flywheel horsepower, which is right there. As for the rest of the engine, the rods and the rest of the internals are forged, and the valve springs seem to be the only weak link in the valvetrain. Again, we won't truely know the weakness'es untill we can tune different setups.

"Build Your Own" 300 + HP ECOtec feature, which is download-able, at http://www.gmperformancedivision.com/ Click/highlight Performance Pulse, then click on Performance Articles, the bottom choice of the four choices you are given. Then click on http://www.gmperformancedivision.com.../23/ecotec.pdf. They start with a 205 H/P S/C ECOtec, describe the steps, including accompanying pictures required for the buildup. In the first paragraph of this article is stated "Most of the components used to build this engine are bone stock - a testament to the capability of the production pieces. The after-market performance components needed to make this big power per Liter (like 150 h/p/L) include high flow injectors, forged aluminum pistons, higher spring rate valvesprings, more agressive camshafts and a new calibration and controller." The entire process of building a 300 + H/P 2.0L S/C ECOtec is well documented with steps and pictures. The engine dyno graph at the completion of the buildup looks like just North of 300 H/P and right at 250 lbs.ft torque. (With shorty tube header-stock wiring harness etc.) I recognize you were talking wheel H/P, but this will get you in the ballpark at any rate. There are lots of free downloads and a wealth of information/data available from GM including the GM Sport Compact Performance Build Book which details buildups of the 2.2L ECOtec in stages to 250 H/P, from 250 H/P to 400 H/P, from 400 H/P to 600 H/P, from 600 H/P to 1000 H/P, and from 1000 H/P to 1400 H/P, again documented step by step with photographs and parts lists. There is also an automatic 4T65 Racing Transmission build-up, a Phase 5 Cobalt, along with Cobalt Grand Am Cup St Class Racing Series car documented at http://www.gm.com/company/gmtunersou...build_book.htm

Even if you would've followed closely, you still wouldn't know. He didn't post any dyno sheets or get any track times, so it's all estimated.
