Might be doing the airbox mod this weekend

What i would like to know is if this is the correct way to do it. First jack up the car and take off the driver side wheel. Then take out the bolts that hold the splash gaurd on and disconnect the Stock intake from the throttle body and insde the fender wall. Then i cut off the bottom of the stock airbox and take out the filter. Now i can put in any filter i want that has an opening of 2.5in to around the neck of where the stock filter went and i crank it down with a hose clamp?

is that pretty close to what i have to do?
Also i heard K&N is the best to go with but those are also like 54 bucks from advanced auto, is there another filter i could get that is cheaper? Also what size do i need to make sure i am using for this to wrok?

I had it for a year, it worked okay, I used the AEM dry filter. THe problem I found was that the filter doesn't exactly fit the way it should to the stock pipe, after a year I checked it out and it fell off, so long story short I bought an Injen intake.

Basically sounds right, there is a how to. It's pretty easy to do.
