Need help. GM tech or GM employee

Last year about this time, my transmission failed.
Car is an 06 SS/SC with the G85 LSD option.
The dealer replaced the transmission.
Once back, I wondered if the LSD was indeed part of the replacement.
Part # of the replacement trans was 55560938.
The car never seemed like it had LSD thereafter.
BTW.....I have installed an LSD (AKA Torsen) in my FWD Calais, so I know what the unit looks like, and I know what it performes like.
My SS/SC "seemed" like it had the same feel after the replacement. But I was never sure.....
In other words, it didn't seem to try to spin the inside tire on a tight turn under power.

So now I have Stage 2 installed. Oodles of torque in 2nd gear under power. I now notice that the car spins the inside tire in a tight corner under power.......a lot!

The LSD should not allow that to happen. At all.

I'm back to wondering if the correct trans with LSD got installed.

I would appreciate it if a tech or GM employee could look up that part number and tell me if that indeed, it is the LSD trans.

I have checked the replacement trans, and have seen the LSD sticker on it. Means nothing if it's a re-manufactured trans from GM. The correct differential could have been left out.

I just might have to pull an axle and look through the carrier. A Torsen has no cross pin, a std trans does.

But before that, I'd like to have someone check the part number.

Any help out there?

I'll also post this on the other site.

Thanks,

Ron

I don't think that is a valid part number. I mean, it is the correct number of digits, but it is not showing up in any searches.

The LSD on these cars will still alow some wheel spin in corners with higher power levles. Its a front wheel drive car and has to alow the wheels to spin at differant speeds to an extent in order for you to turn the car in parking lots and such.

Thanks just1, and others who have posted.
I did a test today.
Drove the car up my driveway.....which is sloped. Put one tire on the wet grass, and the other on the concrete. Drove right up with the tire on the grass spinning. Made a funny gear whine sound....the LSD working.

So I'm good to go, and satisfied that I got what I thought I got.

I realize now that this is a low bias torsen, and the one I put in my Calais is a high bias unit. Designed for racing.
Which is why that car is a bit of a pain on the street....but still fun.

The stage 2 with the huge increase in mud range torque, really showed the low bias of the stock LSD.

I'm going to autocross the car tomorrow....and will work on wearing out the Pirellis!

Haven't autocrossed in 20 years...and this will be with the local Porsche club. Wish me luck!
