another option would be to take it to a muffler shop and have them weld on a new flex pipe for like $125. i would remove the exhaust yourself and take them only the peice u need welded. otherwise they will charge you for r&r also.

Well, I talked to Brian (yel-low) who works in Hagerstown at a dealership and he said the flex pipe is not covered under warranty. But I have gm major guard so I dunno.. Can anyone else check this?

Ok, talked to my ex (she does warranty admin) and said that the resonator assembly yaddah yaddah some code, was NOT covered by GM major guard. Almost considered a wear item in a way. So yeah, I'll unbolt everything, but a flex pipe section, and have someone weld it on off the car.
there is a warranty on emissions items for 8 years/80,000 miles if i recall correctly. you have to emphasize to these dealerships that this is causing an emissions issue.
Federal Emissions Warranty
The Federal Emissions Warranty guidelines are based on federal regulations and apply to vehicles in all 50 states. Vehicles are covered by two types of emissions control system warranty, "Emission Defect Warranty" and "Emissions Performance Warranty".
The Emissions Performance Warranty is usually for 3 years/50,000 miles and depends on the state where you live. The Defect Warranty is generally consistent with the manufacturer's bumper-to-bumper warranty with certain parts (catalytic converter and electronic emissions controls (PCM) for up to 8 years/80,000 miles. Please refer to your owner's manual for specific information on your emissions warranty.

I just went through this up here in Canada.
No warranty coverage on the flex pipe unless the CAT is defective.
To have a shop re and re plus repair 210 to 250. (so you can save some if you can get the 2 back bolts of the rear flange.
ZZP downpipe $260 delivered to Canada plus $100 to install (could not get the 2 back bolts off the rear flange. Shop just cut them).
ZZP pipe was the way to go for me.
