Talking The Official Intake Thread.

I Liked Maverick's "The Official Exhaust Thread. " due to the fact that it is nice and organized.
I know there are a lot of intake threads out there, but I want a thread to compare them all at once.

Cold Air Intakes:

Injen - $239.99
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/15474
Estimated: 16-17hp.
Proven Gains: ?
Dyno: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lsj-performance-tech-47/06-ss-sc-dyno-numbers-9926/

K&N Typhoon - $229.99
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/16367
Estimated: 8.1HP
Proven Gains: ?
Dyno Proof: ?

Fujita - $358.95
http://store.racinglab.com/fujita-cai-ca-1416.html
Estimated: ?
Proven Gains: ?
Dyno Proof: ?

JBP Vortex - $257.14
http://www.jbodyperformance.com/new/...catName=JP0907
Estimated: 13HP
Proven Gains: ?
Dyno Proof: ?

AEM - $235.80 (2.2L only Identified?)
http://www.sportcompactonly.com/prod...p=1013&c=7&l=2
Estimated:?
Proven Gains:?
Dyno Proof:?

I filled in the info that I have found around this site, and searching the net. Could not find any info on the AEM intake for the 2.0 ss/sc.

I want to know the quality of each intake, which ones have and haven't thrown CEL's so far.

I am currently deciding between the JBP intake, and the Injen intake. I'm looking for the most HP gain, without throwing a CEL. What is the quality of the JBP intake? Looking at the pictures on the site, it looks like a bunch of little pipes connected by several couplings... looks kind of chincey.

If I forgot an intake, please let me know.

If you have an intake installed, List the type, possibly what you paid for it. Are you satisfied? Did you throw a CEL? What kind of HP gains were you expecting, and if dynoed, what HP gains did you experience? How did install go for you? How is the quality of the intake itself?

K&N Typhoon: Paid $215 shipped
Dyno Proof: With the intake I dyno'd 230.1 wheel horsepower.
CEL: Yes, off and on.
Quality: Excellent quality. I especially liked the intake clamps.
Satisfied: Not really, I hate having a check engine light on a brand new car.

JBP Vortex CAI

$257 US Dollars

CEL, Dont know... I run the PsiFi kit and I always have a CEL. Not that I care.
Quality, Although it is multi piece (4 seperate pipes w/ silicone connectors) the pipes are coated and seems to be of good quality. Intake is a full 3" setup which is exactly what I was looking for. Best part I think was the customer service of JBP... When I recieved the intake I had a small problem with installation. Once I emailed them they responded very quickly and were willing to do whatever it took to resolve the issue. Sometimes good customer service is hard to find (IE.. TOG).

Satisified... Yes... Its the full 3" intake I wanted. Customer service was great.

Heres a few pics of the intake installed.

Does any of the intakes not make the cel come on? Everything ive been reading is that they all make it come onon one car or another. Even the air box mod.

What's the deal?

Hmmmm....There's a guy on the RL forums who runs the Psi kit and says he has never gotten a CEL because of the kit. He says all his post kit CEL's have been caused by his K and N intake.

Also, are the dyno numbers in your sig pre Psi-Fi kit? 211 HP and 199 tq are more like stock dyno numbers.

You put the Psi kit on and only dynoed 211????

Geez man, I dynoed 216 with just airbox removal, K and N filter and a Magnaflow muffler. Was it a really hot and muggy day or something?

What were your base numbers?

I have the K&N CAI. Paided $225 shipped. Love the quality. I did get a CEL. I put the intake on myself. Scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest i would rate it a 5 on how hard to install. I did dyno before and after, with very little gains. I am going to leave it on my car, because i am hoping that the GM stage 2 kit reflash, will help us out.

Fujita intake $325 Shipped
I'm happy with it
No CEL's
The fitment was an issue, it was very hard to get it to sit in the right spot and i needed to bend the bracket and make parts for it to work.
The quality seemed pretty good, other than the missing parts which could have stopped the intake from getting scratched and damaged.

My pipe "A" is installed backwards... I couldnt get the crank vent hose on with it the other way. I know it will fit though.... Im going to try again this weekend. I had to slightly file my MAF hole as well.... I was a little confused when I first got it... but when i contacted JBP they were extremly helpful and were willing to do whatever it took to get the intake on properly. They are a small company so sometimes there will be little hiccups like this..... but I was happy with there responses to my questions. Besides after hearing some of the fitment issues with the injen intake I dont feel so bad.

K&N Typhoon: Paid $215 shipped
Dyno Proof: With the intake only I dyno'd at 214.19whp and 193.10wtq (no baseline w/o intake).
CEL: Yes, for a day right after install, but not since.
Quality: Excellent quality.
Satisfied: Very. Install was made easier with a lift but shouldn't be too hard with just jack stands. The sound it unleashed is enough to be happy, along with any extra power I gained because of it.
