Official Turbo LSJ thread!!!
what are you guys usin to reflect heat off the **** around the turbo and wastegate an ****, i used some reflective heat tape but now that it's cold out its losing its stickyness lol....thinking about just gettin a blanket for it and lettin whatever of my tape falls off just stay off haha..
well **** guess i wont worry bout it then lol....
another question for anyone using the tial 38mm mvs wg...i was half throttle in 3rd and hitting 25-30 psi lmao so i have an issue there...are you guys running anything to the top port of the wg? i have a fitting on my hscp right after the coupler from the turbo, that goes into the zzp mbc, out of it, and to the bottom wg. then i have just a reference off the intake mani to the top port of the wg...tials diagram was somewhat vague lol. this is without the mbc turned up at all so that shouldn't have any effect on it btw should just be running off the spring in the wg which said .6 bar spring in it.

i have a precision 46mm so they may be ran different. but i have it set up as bottom nipple of wastegate -> boost controller -> intake manifold. i don't have anything on the top nipple. it was like that with my old turbo setup as well but instead of the line going from the mbc to the manifold it went to the hot side pipe.
so you just have the top port open to atmosphere? thats what i was reading on dsm forums that have the 38mm mvs also maybe that's my problem i'll have to pull it off plug it and find out lol thanks.
Zzp's boost controller is a regulator style. Ask them about the vacuum routing. I know it has two lines gong to the wastegate. It's not like a standard boost controller
I have the zzp kit for the turbo swap... i have 90% i should say lol... i need suggestions ... full turbo manifold or the turbo adapter plate... what are the benefits of either, and are there andy good tuners in ne ohio... i live 45 mins from youngstown, 45 mins from pittsbutgh pa and about 1 hour from akron...any help is taken with open ears thanks in advanced
"just get the saab manifold from zzp or ttr's manifold. I honestly wouldn't keep the stock intake manifold unless you're planning on staying low boost for a while."

Okay, got a problem. Today on my way to college, i pull onto the highway and i do a 2nd gear pull into third. All of a sudden, it feels like my car hit a brick wall. Sputtering badly when accelerating. Manage to get into a parking lot off the highway, and look under the hood. Nothing is loose. No smoke, No weird smells. I couldnt be late to class so i got it to make it to school which was about 10 min away. after class i had to get home and it made it home. checked the plugs, all of the intercooler connections, literally everything is normal. What could this be? Once im over 3500 rpm and you give somewhat of alot of throttle it boosts like normal. Very rough idle. When pressing the throttle steady, it idle surges up and down. Cant seem to figure it out took all the piping off and checked for anything. Absoutly nothing. Any ideas?

If you need pointers, then please ask specific questions. As with any modification, there is always slight to moderate fitment issues, there is the possibility of specialty tools, and takes a good sense of mechanical knowledge. If you are going to turbo your LSJ, get an idea of how you will handle crankcase ventilation. Also, Map out your entire kit prior to install, get a game plan and stick to it. Don't waste time with missing fittings and trips to the store.
DO NOT JUST BUY HP TUNERS AND ATTEMPT TO TUNE YOUR CAR. Find a tuner! I do suggest buying HP Tuners for monitoring and logging. It will help you to display information relative to issues so that your tuner can identify and correct them quickly. It doesnt have to be a tuner from here. Most late model GM shops have experience with HPT and can help. Or you can go the route of Trifecta, Vince does some nice liberal tunes that will be plenty safe for getting you started.

There isnt a How-to for turbo install because there would be too many people screw their cars up. If you do not know how to install a turbo, pay someone else to do it. Its too easy to screw up.
