Haha, no the stock valvetrain will not handle 450whp. At the absolute very least you'll need springs and retainers. As for the motor you'll need more than pistons/sleeves.

I'm sure it could never bad to upgrade though especially when it's only a few hundred to do so while it's already open

Okay, got a problem. Today on my way to college, i pull onto the highway and i do a 2nd gear pull into third. All of a sudden, it feels like my car hit a brick wall. Sputtering badly when accelerating. Manage to get into a parking lot off the highway, and look under the hood. Nothing is loose. No smoke, No weird smells. I couldnt be late to class so i got it to make it to school which was about 10 min away. after class i had to get home and it made it home. checked the plugs, all of the intercooler connections, literally everything is normal. What could this be? Once im over 3500 rpm and you give somewhat of alot of throttle it boosts like normal. Very rough idle. When pressing the throttle steady, it idle surges up and down. Cant seem to figure it out took all the piping off and checked for anything. Absoutly nothing. Any ideas?

that kinda sounds like when i blew off my charge piping lol. but then you said you took off all the pipes...check your couplers, one might be cracked, causing a boost leak. did you noticed any smoke while driving?

btw have you tuned the car yet?

O2 sensor? When mine went it wouldn't idle. Didn't matter if the throttle was pressed or not. Was it raining? If my car sucks water in it doesn't spool because the maf gets wet it just over fuels like crazy and cuts out.

Do you have any dtc's?

If it still spools above 3500 and doesn't take longer than normal i wouldn't say it's a boost leak

It was the MAF sensor. I unpluged the sensor and the car actually ran better. I bought cleaner and just sprayed it down until the can was empty. Fixed my problem! After taking all the piping off, checking every connection, tightening all the sensors, and I even cleaned the injetors! After all of that it was the MAF needing a cleaning...

its perfect now.

Something i noticed while cleaning my injectors was that in cylinder one (Or the one on the left) there was an extra 0 ring. all of the other ones didnt have it. It was floating around in front of the injector almost falling into the hole. :? Oh well i didnt put it back and it runs normal.

umm... yes it is possible to make 450whp on a completely stock valve train in an LSJ. It is possible to make it on a completely stock LSJ from valve cover to oil pan. Its been done more than once... The other stuff is not needed but is a good idea if you are going to be building it. There are a lot of other factors that will affect if you get there or not. What fuel? return style or dead head? what size turbo? what boost level? how much abuse? etc.

haha yeah. my response to that guys' "facts don't win races" was just simply, "but 591whp and 477ftlbs does"

and i probably could nls the car on the pump gas tune. i'd just rather not chance it. but if i did while racing. talk about a raping.
