listen to my video that i posted not too far back. its the flutter sound that happens when you let off the throttle. Its air that is left in your chargepiping that your BOV didn't/couldn't vent so the air is slamming back against the compressor wheel of the turbo.

that sounds like a bad thing. so basically i'll have to take my housing off and drill and tap a fitting in to the vaccum line and tap it to another? It just started last night never noticed it before only notice at small amounts of boost and doesn't do it all the time

it is a bad thing over time. but you dont need to tap anything. Read post 2121 and 2122 above. That will explain what you do to fix it

just scanned through a the past few pages. My greddy blowoff flutters all the time lol. I get a little bit of that crisp sound at the end if I'm full boost. Mine has an adjustable spring but I swear no matter if I adjust it harder or softer I never noticed a difference.

Mine stays open at idle also important part is that when you put the throttle down it closes. 5th gear is ******* it unless you're going fast enough to warrant 5th gear (130+?) TBH so you may have an odd outcome from the car after letting off. Downshift .

Got my s256et on today cars runs alright, feels like I have a boost leak and it popped a p0103 now. All I have to do is search and fix the leaks and take the MAF out and clean it. Feels good to have a car again.

Everyone calm down! Chances are for most of you that you dont have compressor surge. Turbos make different noises at times. wastegates and BOVs will "flutter" as pressure fluctuates. In ideal situations, the BOV and WG will make a crisp sound everytime. BOV goes PASHA, wastegate goes WHOOSH, compressor surge goes CHE-CHE-CHE post videos of your cars like FrossB did and Ill tell you what is making what noise.

well actually i should ellaborate lol i opened up my BOV and found two springs. One larger one and one smaller one. the smaller one had considerably less tension and was about half the height. For ***** and gigs i took the small spring out and left the larger one in. Not one bit of surge and it still holds 26psi strong.

Just installed the tial q I bought from zzp. Is it really supposed to hang open this much at idle? I heard people say it hangs open a little, but this doesn't seem right. It's wet outside so i couldn't really get on it, but seems to be holding boost fine. I'm just worried about something getting sucked in the motor when I'm idling.

If your maf is after the BOV you will be fine. What are the chances something is going to end up in that space? You should be good.

I should see if mine is open at idle. Mine would be more of a worry when its wet out because its near the ground. Oh well, nothing happened yet.

I am finally getting good charge pipes made for a decent price! Steel under the car and goes to a slight oval where it goes through the oil pan passage then aluminum after the IC. All custom and for around 250$. Not bad since guys around here wanted to charge me double and more.

Yea, doesn't seem right, your letting in a ton of potentially dirty air.

........it's not like it's sucking air/dirt/rocks in....

if you really really were that worried about it i suppose you could make a "shield" around where the diaphragm opens similar to a turbo screen material.

Yea apparently its ok. I'm just glad there is absolutely no flutter and the response of the tial is great. I might fab up some mesh around it for peace if mind. Do you think cutting up an injen hydrosheild would be a good idea. Never seen one in person don't know if it'll flow enough air when the bov releases air

would prob be fine. idk i wouldn't even worry about it, if it's something like a rock, at worst it's going to sit in your intercooler endtank if it gets in there, which is such a long shot freak kind of thing to happen given the placement of it, even if it was hanging above the ground it's only going to be open at idle so unless the road is throwing stones up sitting still then i wouldn't worry, i don't
