ported and polished head
You can gain serious power with a good port job.
It is probably going to be much cheaper to find a good reputable shop around you that will do it rather than buying an already ported one. Plus, you also get the chance to have them go as custom as you want.

I honestly think with a serious port job, a 2.8 pulley, tuned and full bolt on's, its in the 290whp range. I don't see why it wouldn't. Just need the bitch to flow good.
I'm just shy of it. Wish I could prove it, but it's $125/hr for dyno time and I don't need that just to find out how much my catback gives me. Let's just say without really touching the head like you guys have the opportunity to do, I put down 280whp w/ a stock cat-back in terrible conditions. W/ my 3" catback, I'm good to over 290whp no doubt. If the exhaust was ported and polished on my head, 300whp is cake. Not to mention, if you go w/ the HKS 272 grind, you'll make more top end power than my JBP's will ever see...

Yeah, from what I've seen at a brief glance when I was down there...
Matt showed me, I think, Chevysalesman's graph and he put down just as much peak power as I did. The only things the cams gave me was a good amount of gain under the curve compared to his. I'll definately ask to see the two again when I go back. I'm still trying to decide if I should save up money and go back when I can pay him $250 or so to really get this thing right...

Do you roughly know where the gain is?
Surprisingly, alot of torque up front and a little hp. The torque curve practically peaks at 3K when we start the test. I don't think my torque peak is as high as his, but I'll have to check when I can see both runs. I know that it's as flat as a freakin' table though...
