Read the description of the oil pump gears. The ATI minimizes the wear on the oil pump at high rpm

I don't think you can leave the block in the car.. unless you pull the trans too... and at that point, might as well drop the engine out.....

ughh you'd have to hold the crank up there while you put the girdle on too..... ugh f that. I'd say pull everything man

My advice: Get a spare crank, send it to John. Have him have his homie cut the keyway. Go to Johns. Pull the engine out and swap everything over in a day or two.

I'm prolly gonna get hound for this.. but you don't HAVE to extend the keyway.. but chances are, eventually, you're gonna shear that keyway off and you're gonna have to (hopefully) extend it then IF the crank is still good.

Yeah so it could be a gamble. but for the money that you have in your car Nick, I would say you have no other option than to have it extended.

And it's not like dropping the engine is difficult in these cars.

Even with a m62? And if I pull the crank I might as well build the bottom end right?

I got some stock compression (9.5:1), stock bore (86mm) Diamond Pistons with less than 500 miles on them

Also, If you're interested in getting a good deal on sleeves and machine work, talk to MrB. And if you don't feel comfortable building the bottom end, or hell, even the whole long block, Talk to mrb about it. He'll assemble the whole damn thing for a damn good price.

I scored a used zzp block for $1000 and had it honed to .010 for around $200 and bought a set of pistons from Mrb for $200
