For the SC guys
This question is for the SC guys. I met this dude on base today with a SS/SC balt Vic Red with a high rise. He says that when he pulls up to a stop light or stop sign his car starts surging and sometimes shuts off. Diagnosis? Mods are KNN Cold intake and Magnaflo exhaust. Filter hasnt been serviced in 20,000 miles
Ok so we cleaned the filter and it was filthy. Also cleaned the inside of the pipe and it is still doing the same thing. What should we do now? I need a guide on taking off the TB and cleaning it.

Probably a dirty TB, maybe dirty MAF as well.
As far as removing the TB:
1. Remove the intake tube that goes between the TB and lower intake pipe.
2. Remove 4 bolts from TB and remove.
3. To disconnect the TB harness you remove the plastic locking pin (I used a small jewelers screwdriver to push down on the tab) then push on the connector's release tab and pull the connector off.
4. Use TB cleaner and a rag to clean the TB and butterfly. Be careful when cleaning and moving the butterfly so you don't damage it.
5. Do steps in opposite order to install.
Do not lose or forget to put the plastic locking pin back in place. I also always replaced the TB gasket when cleaning the TB. It is like a $15 part and since you have it all off anyways you may as well replace it.

Could also be an EVAP issue. I have a shitty EVAP issue going on right now and mine does the same thing. When he gets gas, does the car surge like that when he first starts it up after filling? If so, it's the EVAP.

I had that happen to my car last fall. It was caused by the EVAP purge solenoid.

Type in part #12597567 on GMpartsdirect
It's $22.13. It's a simple fix man. I kept getting bad gas cap & EVAP codes until i finally tracked down the failing part.

Yeah, they call it that, but it is actually called the EVAP purge solenoid. It evaps vapors from the fuel tank into the throttle body to be burned off.
