Smg twincharged rebuild project
Twincharged Build
As many of you know I was one of the first car’s for SMG to install a remote mount twin charge kit.
The car was a blast while it ran but encountered some problems here and there which was expected being the 2nd car to have this done to. Eventually the power came to an end.
I was driving onto the onramp to get on the highway and as I was merging on it happened... smoke started pouring out of my exhaust pretty much blinding anyone behind me. I immediately smell that sweet smell of anti-freeze and assume I blew the head gasket. So I get it towed home and order a cometic head gasket.
A couple weeks later or so a friend and I take apart the cylinder head to replace the gasket. Before even looking further we immediately noticed the old gasket was fine which is where I knew I was in trouble. I look down to find this.......
I now knew I was screwed and it was either a new block or rebuild it to extreme. A couple months or so went by as I was deciding what to do while I saved up. Finally I came to the decision to go all out and just rebuild it to extreme. Well to as extreme as I could with the money I saved up haha. Below is a list of parts that will be used in my car. Some are parts I may already have had and some may be new. I may have missed a few as well...

The car has currently been in the shop for about 5 months now and off the road for close to a year. I talked to the machine shop and they should be finished with my block in about a week so Fred will be able to start assembling and get this this running again.
Also, Fred told me he went over-bore on the new sleeve kit as well as installing larger pistons. He said the car will probably be a 2.3l when all said and done.
Now I don’t have the best technical knowledge when it comes to automotive but I always try to do research and love hearing other people opinions and suggestions. So any question or comments please post and Ill be happy to answer them or at least try and get the answer for you.
Below are COMPLETE pictures of the cylinder head porting

This is a picture of the block at the machine shop almost ready to be picked up by SMG to be assembled

Below are a few pictures of the Darton sleeved block now finished from the machine shop and at SMG for assembly

Below is a picture of the block coming together. Pistons and rods are in and cylinder head is about to be attached!

Below are pictures of the block being assembled

Below are pictures of the motor going into the car (valve cover was someone else’s and is going to be repainted)

These are all the pictures I can fit on this post. A few pictures uploaded on page 4. On page number 10... dyno chart + video of car with 2.5” exhaust and resonator. Final chart and video soon to come once exhaust work complete

That porting looks pretty rough.. I hope those are in process pics. Hit them with a flap wheel quick LOL..
At least you broke it good, always sucks when its a wimpy break IMO.
