He can just set all the codes to do not report to skip the drive cycle. I always seem to be fixing my tune in my inspection month and dont have time to do the cycle.

I passed the info and he said it doesn’t work and only turns the codes off. He said it still needs the drive cycles.

Must be something HP can do that Vince can't, because I had a similar problem and Vince couldn't help me. He can reset the readiness monitors, but no matter what he did, it would show "unready" to the inspection computer until I had driven enough cycles.

Well he has put quite a few hundred miles on the car already and still (2) of the codes remain in the unready status. The unready codes are the o2 heater and the o2 sensor. Now just yesterday he realized that the guy who welded on the new exhaust forgot to plug in the o2 sensor. So he plugged it in of course and since then he has put about 65 more miles on the car but both codes remain unready. So he will continue putting the miles on her and hopefully it will be ready soon! On a side note he said that car is getting about 33mpg.

General Motors Driving Cycle

do drive cycle 3 times.. if the sensors dont say ready by then.. you'll need to turn them via hpt

Several more miles later and still no luck with the 2 codes (o2 heater and the o2 sensor). He tried doing that GM Driving cycle page and said its hard being able to do exactly what they are asking as its hard to find a road and keep track of it all and no if you successfully completed a drive cycle or not. Anyways he is going to look into the tune later and see if there is something wrong causing this not to be ready. If not who knows when the car will be ready.

Time for Fred to hang it up on this project and move along I think. Hes done quite a bit of work off the clock and thats noble and all but the fact that hes struggling again is not a good sign. I would get in contact with someone who has more HPtuner knowledge so you can get this thing tuned, inspected, and on the road.

An o2 heater code has nothing to do with how many miles you log. It means either the o2 sensor is not plugged in, there is wiring damage or blown fuse, or the sensor has failed and needs to be replaced.

I passed the info and he said Its not a code that is the problem it's just the fact that the o2 sensor and heater are in the unready status. He said he rechecked the tune which checked out ok. He said he is going to give one more day of driving it to see if it gets in the ready status as those are the only 2 things that remain unready and I need only one of them to be ready to pass inspection. After that if no luck he is goin to finish tuning the car completely and even I can put the rest of the miles on at that point

I can never get my o2 heater to read ready. It pops a code after a couple months and I ignore it, then just set the code to do not report at emissions time and then it reads ready without the drive cycle.

Can you tell me how to do that so I can tell him? I don't think he knows how to do that since he disagreed that is an option the last time I told him what you said
