Sorry to bother you guys, but I just read like 15 pages of this thread and have another (stupid) question. If I use the K&N drop-in cone filter, so I have to hack up the intake box like I've seen all over this thread? Is there any way I could just disassemble the box itself and stick the cone filter right onto the tubing?

Yes, disconnect the battery so the computer resets fuel trims, and adjusts for the new airflow.
You don't "have to" disconnect the battery if you are just swaping filters, but I like to for the reasons I gave above.
Clean the MAF sensor while you're at it as well.

The LSJ ZZP CAI is back in stock and I want to buy it. I also want to buy a K&N DryCharger wrap for the air filter. Do you guys know the size of the K&N air filter that comes with the ZZP so I can buy the correct wrap?
got my 07 SS/SC about 2 months ago, looking at pictures around the net, my intake is either the ebay one or the injen. my cel is on, air flow performance and bank 2 rich are the codes. i am going to try and clean the mafs as i have an oiled filter.
my question is. does anyone make an intake that puts the filter closer to the supercharger. i.e gets it out of the fender.

The filter in the fender is not a problem if you run a hydroshield or stock airbox.
Besides, there is colder, denser air in the fender well than in the engine bay.
it's just a pita getting to the filter. taking the tire off and the fender lining out.
i had to completely remove the intake pipe and fix the 2 spots where the sharp fender well edging rubbed holes in it.
should be ok now, used a die grinder to clean up the area where it was rubbing and also but some split rubber tubing to cushion it.

I put my injen on a little while ago and the directions state that you have to remove bumper, and side fender, and the process takes and hour or whatever it is. Well when I put mine on me and my uncle didn't take off the bumper nor did we take off the side fender. We took out the inner fender well cover, unbolted the stock air box, also obviously we took the tire off while we did this, lol forgot to mention that... but any who, we then took off the sensor and what not, turned the air box towards the axle, or the rotor, and pulled it out that way. We then slid the Injen tubing right in, putting everything back together, left all the bolts lose to make final adjustments, then tightened it and wahlah all finished, no check engine light nothing, went together easy and simple, and I swear it only took us about 20 to 30 minutes to do it, and I love the Injen sounds good, and seemed like to me that it gave off a pretty good performance gain. G/L. Just figured I'd give my little adventure.
