SS/SC intakes
yeah the ottp mounts to the rear stud(nearest to the tire) that the stock air box uses and you just reuse the nut. could be done throuhg the headlight, but wouldnt be as easy as the zzp(easy for me since i had to have the liner out to get the stock box out) but there's no drilling
i might be selling mine depending on how my stocker does with the tvs, if i get decent numbers and flow well enough i'd love to get rid of it and be able to tell people im making 300hp with stock intake and muffler

lol nice! I have stock catback on currently. If I did get an exhaust it would be corsa and i would get a wot box to shoot flames when people tailgate me. But currently ive been thinking of bagging the car. something different ive always wanted to do. Im not sure though.
Im fighting. TVS/Built Head - over this year and next year
or Custom Bag Setup - over the next two years as well

I just bought a 2006 SS/SC with an Injen CAI. It was lightly raining today so the road was wet and on the drive home the CEL came on. I read this could be because the air filter might be wet causing the MAF to throw codes. Is this true? Should I buy one of those Injen Hydroshields? How do I get the CEL to go off?

Two weeks later and my Injen intake is still throwing a CEL. The car is running lean. The dealership I bought the car from is installing a stock air box soon so I can pass inspection. Obviously I would like to keep the Injen intake. What are my options to clear the CEL for good while still using the Injen intake?
EDIT: I read that if I disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and let it idle for a while the ECU should reset and adjust to the new settings. Is this true?

Go to auto zone and buy a code reader. You will need it all the time with this car anyway. The only way you're really going to have the code gone for good is to get a tune done for the intake.
ZZP intake is awsome, i have no complaints where as with my injen I kept getting water in it. I found the part number for the hydro shield that fits the ZZP filter and haven't had an issue with it yet.

Well, the plan so far is to put the stock air box on so I can get an inspection sticker. I believe I got the air filter on the Injen intake a little wet the first night I had it and that may be what is throwing the code. The guy at the dealership drove the car for about 3,000 miles with the Injen intake installed and never had a CEL. Yet the day I buy it and drive it 10 miles to my friend's house in the rain the CEL comes on and won't go away.
I plan on then buying a replacement Injen air filter as well as the hydroshield and reinstall the intake. If the CEL still comes on I have to find a shop to tune it. I'm assuming a regular Chevy dealership cannot do this? I live in the ghetto and do not trust ANY "tuner" (aka Honda Civic and Acura Integra) shop in my city with my car. My family mechanic does not do tunes. There seems to be a reputable tuner shop that does ECU reflashes about 90 minutes from here so I might give them a call soon.

If you have a dyno shop around they can usually do a tune on it. I called a few places around here before I went to BYT. You aren't going to see a huge gain but the cars are picky about any changes and this causes a CEL.
So they were able to get the CEL to go away by keeping the Injen intake piping and removing the cone filter and bolting the stock box to it instead. Weird, but **** I guess I can't complain. When I get some spare cash I'll buy a new Injen cone filter and a hydroshield and try to find a shop that can tune the car for me.

I've never had any issues with the intakes I tested on my car.
I've driven in severe rainstorms, went though puddles (not intentionally), and the car didn't even stutter.
People are quick to blame the intake when in most cases it is either installed incorrectly (MAF backwards, no hydroshield), or there is something else wrong with the car.

The Injen piping does not bend the same as the stock piping that connects to the airbox.
As you know, I'm new to these cars so I don't even know. If it wasn't 30 degrees outside and I wasn't studying for my test on resistors and inductors in combination circuits right now I'd go check it out myself. I plan on buying a replacement Injen cone filter and a hydroshield ASAP though.

I'm trying to keep this car as stock as possible but I love the the supercharger whine from the aftermarket intake. First thing I do on all my cars, no matter how shitty they are is replace the stock filter with a cone filter, haha. I'll keep the modding for future project cars. Trying to convince my friend to go halves on a Chrysler Conquest turbo, although I wouldn't mind another 1G DSM.
