It takes free standing water to do such damage. Did you drive through a huge puddle??

What kind of filter were you using for your "airbox mod"?

If it was a dryflow, you should have purchased a hydroshield.

I've had the aibix mod for many years with no issue at all. I ran it with a k&n and currently with a spectre air filter.

Take a look at the poll and see what intake I had when this thread was made....

The XTC intake from Cobalt Addiction. I've had a few different one since then.

They aren't going to update the poll anytime soon

Air box mod...

get this RU-2820 - K&N Universal Air Filters, Universal Rubber Filter

remove bottom of air stock air box, drill small hole to fit screw driver through to tighten hose clamp on new filter and your set...that particular filter also has an available hydro shield if you were so inclined

The stock intake is a "real" cold air intake....

It just isnt shinny and bling worthy like the aftermarket ones.

Airbox mod will produce same gains.

Louder whine does not mean more power....

I was talking about power gains. The airbox mod will produce the same gains as most (if not all) aftermarket intakes.

I have gone back and forth between airbox mod and aftermarket intakes, and there was no difference between any of them other than whine. So many people on here don't understand that the stock intake flows very well. It's the stock paper filter that lacks. Replace it with a K&N, or other high flow filter and you are set.

If you want some bling under the hood, and a slightly louder whine than a cold air intake will do the trick.

Thanks for the info! I sure do love me some old fashioned bling. Plus I just got a killer deal on a brand new TVS and ls4 tb so I think I am pretty much left with no choice but to get an intake at this point. I would like to see an ottp on someones car!

A guy from Calgary has an Ottp intake. He said it was simple to install and it was designed exceptionally well! It uses the stock bolt that the airbox uses to keep fender bulge to a minimum.

Good Luck...should pretty much look like the raw did...under the hood at least
My raw was pollished 304Stainless, but I had planned to wrap/coat/powder coat the my ottp so i opted for the natural/mill finish 304Stainless

this is the raw on the car...painted and unpainted covers...notice the rubber between the pcm and the intake, poor fitment

this is the raw after 20-30K miles when i took it off and sold it, still looked practically brand new

I have the RAW and it looks almost identical to yours except I have a couple scratches and scuffs on it. The thing looks and sounds amazing but they didn't put much thought into how it would fit

yeah when i ordered my ottp i had a meth kit and had plans to install it...before they even made it/sent it out(waited a few months for it >_<) i decided not to run meth and sold the kit. so i told them just to send me one with out the meth bung...still ended up getting it with a bung on it. now i just have a plug in it. When i got it though, there was no screws in the maf housing so i grabbed some form work, couldnt get them to thread in...look at the bung, wasn't even tapped...broke two taps getting it done, one finishes, the other only 1/2-3/4 tapped so i just cut the screw down...headache for sure

anyway, here's the pix
