No worries with the rings setting in, did my initial start ups with a 3 step pressure loading for 20min between 2-4k RMPs. Each time letting the engine to reach operating temps then cool down. Also drained the oil and not using synthetics during break-in which is critical

Took the car for 30min drive today in slightly cooler and wet weather and felt a slight hesitation with light throttle and under 1500rpm but pulled through the rest of the rpm range very smooth. No P0300 codes or misfire so suspect the hesitation was a cold air hiccup. Also got less noticeable once the car warmed up

It was a hard thing to do but the car is listed in the classifieds, see link below. A steal of a deal and will hopefully go to a fellow cobalt enthusiast who can appreciate the work that has gone into this car.

Have not done a lead down test and no smoke. I have been on business travel for the past 2 weeks and could do the leak down test next weekend when I return.

Leak down test completed this weekend and engine is tight and sealed. Only 5-7% and what I expected to see considering the ring gaping, new valve stems and lapped valves.

I gotta admit, im stunned that the results were that good, ive never seen anyone not hone a cylinder before and have a engine run good afterwards.

Per request here is a video taken today. Car still has a low RPM misfire and sputter while cold but as you can see from the video under acceleration it is OK but under powered. Click on link of photo and it should take you to the photobucket video.

Price reduced on car to $5500 to sell by this weekend. I'm going out of the country again and need the space in my garage. Posted on local Graigslist so if you know anyone spread the word.
