I all of my Stage 2 done but I have hit a brickwall, I cannot get the belt tensioner to move.

It says to use a 15mm wrench and I have tried 3 already but they just slip off after about 80% of it's travel.

Is there a secret I am missing here?

Stage 2 injector install = 20 min
Stage 2 pulley install = 1 hour
Stage 2 belt install = 2 hours and counting

Please help!

 

The wrench will slip off if it's not all the way on. I had to literally wedge it on there good. Give the wrench a light tap or two with a hammer to ensure it's seated all the way on the tensioner. Push slowly downward to keep the wrench on and back toward the firewall. It will feel hard at first, and then it'll be easy when you overcome the spring tension. Good luck.

Yep that tensioner is a bitch. Once you overcome the "tension" it's pretty easy to hold down.

 

I think mine was cast to small, I had to lightly file a 9/16 wrench to get a snug fit.

Took about 3.5 second to finish afterwords.

What do you do when the back side is slightly rounded off. My 15mm wrench was fairly loose and I was able to hammer on a 9/16 and that was good and tight. But without fail once again just slippage. Please help me with some suggestions.

When I made my wrench I squared it out and shaved the tips off the wrench end, when I was done all of the wrench was touching.

This way it fits perfectly and there is no room for movement.

 

Just need a little elbow grease

Yeah man, definatley the hardest part after taking the pulley off. Took like 20 minutes just to get the belt on. Once you got the tensioner down its easy to keep it that way. One to hold it down and another to slip the belt on helps.

 

If anyone has extraordinary problems with the tensioner then try this as well if the above methods do not work.

Take a medium size crescent wrench and make it just smaller than the notch on your tensioner. Use a hammer to pound on the crescent wrench all the way until it hits the bottom. Now put on a glove, grab the wrench and push forward. Hopefully it works and doesn't slip off, but just in case it does you have the glove to help save you from another nasty cut / scrape.

I bet that tool works good but my 9/16 wrench cost me $5 and took 5min to file.
