Too Much Boost?

I work the weekend shift so today starts my weekend. Sat-Tues. 10 hour days. Off Wend-Fri. Anyway I plan on taking a trip to my stealership and ordering the GM Stage II as my first mod. After this I want to open it up so it can breath better with a intake, exhaust and manifold. Then switch to the 2.8 pully and get my blower ported and polished. The main question is, can the stock head gasket handle the boost from the Stage II with a 2.8 pully and a port/polished blower? Does anyone have this set up and can anyone tell me if it is safe or not. Thanks alot. I look foward to seeing what everyone knows about this.

Your gasket will be more than fine. A 2.8 will give you around 18psi...myself along with dozens others are running a 2.5 with 21psi...you have nothing to worry about. Also, porting won't do anything for it...everyone I know has yet to prove any realy gains from porting. Maybe 3whp...thats it...

Yeah, a 2.8 is about 18 psi, and I push 18 with my 2.6 and my head gasket is fine.

I would watch your Air to fuel if you go intake and 2.8 might be lean. PS the head gasket can handle it but i doubt the tune for the stage kit would take the blower porting on top of the 2.8and intake

ull be fine. dont wast your money on a port job dude. It does nothing. My proof? Go to the RL forums. Its in there somewhere. Save the cash from the port job and buy a HE.

I guess I'm the only unlucky SOB on here who blew a headgasket with just Stage 2, an intake, and exhaust. My advice is you should be fine with the 2.8" pulley. I am one of nil to none who had an issue with it.

Thanks alot guys, I will deff. hold out on the port and polish. If there is no proof in some decent gains then it would be pointless. I heard a rumor it will improve boost. *shrug* Thanks for the info.

At 18psi you won't see much of a gain. at 22+ you might. Basicly it's supposed to help make things more efficient, less heat, resisitance.

the only thing a port job would do is make ur boost claim faster and less heat resisitance

a port job is usualy for high boost aplications only (20+) because It alows air to move more freely... equiling less psi... equiling a smaller chance of somthing blowing up

its not realy meant for adding power

wrong, the only think the port job does is make a dent in your wallet. Go to the RL forums, the proof is there man. PORTING THE DAMN BLOWER DOES NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Thin metal gets hot faster right? The SC blades, gears and pulley directly affect boost.
