Top performance

looking to spend 400 and under whats going to give me overall best performance
- Loud mouth Single back Exhaust
-3.00 Pulley or 2.9 which ever doesn't have me have to retune
-CAI Spec J or K&N
-Nitrous (if cheap)
-Exhaust manifold

Any other upgrades let me know i just want like 50 more horse from a few upgrades right now looking to spend under 400

i know it doesn't add to the post but....

one the side bar, right now every other link is spam for fake viagra/cialis/etc. the bottom on the ticker is this post, which, judging from the title, could have been another on the list.

as far as intakes go, there was a post recently about a vendor having all k+ns for cobalts on sale - i think that the injen puts out slightly better numbers though.

lol at "top performance"
yes quite confusing lol

my vote would be a CAI as top on the list.. that will run clean in your car, good first mod, and easy install for the most part. Pretty cheap for the increased HP.

on the CAI.. i've the rebel autowrx numbers have always stuck out to me... how does that compare with injen?

Unless RAW makes a 2.5" CAI, I'd go with Injen. Only RAW CAI I'm familiar with is 3" for the LS4 TB.

ok here ya go OTTP stage 1 kit...... http://www.ottperformance.com/p111/O...duct_info.html ( 340$)

Kit Contents
2.8" Smoothflow MPS or Stage 2 Pulley (option)
60lb Flowmatched Injectors
Injector Harness
Larger Idler Pulley or Stage 2 Belt (option)
NGK 1 Step Colder Copper Plugs
OTT Stage 1 PCM

Best starter kit out there( expect 35-45 hp gain) and it comes with the tune so ur all set and ready to get up and get going when u get it... if u dont send in ur pcm first u will have to do a crank case relearn ( can be done at dealer or some 1 with hptuners)

Personaly this is the best thing u can do for under 400 bucks... or get some n20 Also instead of the intake do the airbox mod (which can be linked to here):https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...ght=airbox+mod

also when u get some more money instead of buying a 2.5in exhaust u can get this and save u some money( its a cti over the axel upgrade ) .( our exhaust is 2.5 up to the bend over the rear axel so this replaces the smaller part and adds a magnaflow muffler( its like 200 bucks... or u could always get the pacesetter exhaust for like 200 i beleave its 2.5 in all the way back also)

PS: those are all brand new prices so i am sure u can find things cheaper... also as stated a header and dp combo will help out alot when u get these upgrades but should come after u get a heat exchanger or methanol injection... or any cooling mods for that matter( but on a 2.8 there not as needed untill u drop pully sizes or u do back to back pulls alot.

.
i agree with everything he said except for this. i would find a used cold air intake off here for cheap. only because i did the airbox mod then i bought a used injen cai and put that on and they was a difference. i have a friend that did the same thing and he also noticed a difference so i would suggest finding a used intake cause you can find them on here for really cheap and you get more gains and more whine. lol

yeah but on the dyno i only put down 2 more hp with a intake( u can get 1 for like 100 bucks so its 50 bucks per hp gain... airbox is free and prob gain like 1 hp lol... free=1hp. and alot more whine.

the stage 1 kit is $7.55 for every hp gained( very good price for power IMO)

would be better off finding a downpipe on the net and buying it before u get an intake( the stocks are proven to work very well. the downpipe is not so proven lol. ( i beleave there are claimes of like 10 hp bump with a catless dp... but raspy comes with going catless... u can get a used dp for like 100 bucks so its like $10.00 / per hp)

he is lookin for the cheapest mods to make the most power to break it down take the cost devided by the hp increase( average) and see what the money /per hp comes out to be.... rilly the best for the money under 400 is the stage1 kit and maby if u can aford it a dp.... down the road to prevent heat soak ur definatly going to need a heat exchanger or methanol injection... if u dont know what methanol injection is look it up( hp gains as well as cooling the intake charge alowing you to add more timing... ( i beleave this car looses hp after 25* of timing... not sure tho i am not a tuner)

PS: any help u need u can pm me and i would be glad to help ya out bud.

also if u are to get an intake dont get a 2.5 just get a 3 in and be happy with it lol... thats what i should have done instead of cheaping it out... get some real hp and even MORE WHINE!

lol i guess... but only when its tricked by ur mind dyno ... hearing that whine does make it seem alot faster lol.. but the dyno was almost posativly the same when i ran... it was 4 degrees off( iat2 throughout most of the pull.. i cooled down after the intake was put on and ran again and only got 2 hp gain... i think it does make ur car boost faster ( lower rpm) but dont add as much as the stage 1 kit would add for the money... also the dp would be the best bet to get for power... u have to think on a 400 dolor budget u break it all down( the whine is amazing and if u want that than get the intake.. but if u want the most power get a stage 1 and then dp and then intake and then etc lol.( items add up fast.. trust me i know lol)

you could always look around and the first good deal that pops up win's... thats usualy how my car gets built lol... depending on what everyone on the .net is selling or redline forums.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/parts-66/feeler-few-parts-183594/ ( copy and paste that... stuff for sale for descent prices ( intake for 60 bucks + ur stocker in return... good deal.)

then again all cars react diffrent so maby u picked up big gains from the intake.. .definatly not saying u dident but there is a good intake for him for 60+ his stocker... good deal and power to cost even if its 2 hp is only 30buck per hp... not a bad deal.( posably more hp and then the price per hp just drops even further)

you are also a newer car( i am an o4 redline so my stock tune differs from urs so i just thought about that in my bed and got up so i could correct my self.. maby ur car used more fuel so the extra air helped out alot be leaning it out a little)

hey wicked while ur here lol do u wana set up a tuning time and date? pm me if u have any time in the scheduel for me thanks alot

yeah n20 is a good thing.. when used safely he wants a 400 dolor kit... for that kinda money most likely its gona be a dry shot and thats not to safe in my book.. but if u can get a good wet shot for that price and get a bottle heater u might have some fun with that lol.

A 4cyl wet kit is less than 300 bucks on ebay for everything you need minus extra accessories like bottle warmers.
