TVS really worth it?
TVS really worth it?
I have read a lot of forums and searched so dont be burnin me on this but is the tvs really worth it? I have been looking into it a lot sense ottp is doing a group sell so that would save us all some money, but some people say they see gains and some say they dont see much. I have yet to see a dyno of a m62 and then a TVS to actully see the gains of just switching to a TVS. I really want to know if it is worth $2000 cause that is a big chunk of money. If someone could help me om this that would be greatly appreciated
It's subjective really...from all the reading ive done on it, there is roughly anywhere from a 20-40% increase in efficiency over the M62, the price is really what hurts the TVS more then anything. If you can find one used for between 1500-1800 bucks, and you already have all the supporting supercharger mods available, and have pretty much maxed out your setup for the M62, yes, but if you are just getting under way and are looking to go right to the TVS, I would say you are better off investing your money on a turbo.

i'm planning on making a hair or so over 300 on the m62 but it would have been much cheaper to do that with a tvs.
run 80# injectors, intake and exhaust, and you are pretty much good to go and see some nice numbers. a ported head and cams could net you beteen 340-380 wheel (roughly i think) depending on the pulley size and cooling mods.
be sure to check this thread out. its long but soooo much good info in here

Yup that thread what you want to read. And rice is right. I'm running stock pulley e85 and a header and dp and am planning on hitting 350 or so. With even more work you can get some high numbers. I don't plan on spending more than $3000 in short term.
go tvs or go home lol. jk. while yes you can get a used one cheaper, you have a chance at getting a NEW NEVER USED tvs for under $1900 depending on the ppl in. ive seen used ones go for almost that much. to each his own, but im rocking the tvs asap. with meth.
this^^^ meth e85. ehhhhh close enough to each other
I hit 309whp on the m62 which is pretty much maxed out, my TVS is going on this spring. I'm expecting 60-80whp gains from the TVS. It's worth it if you want to stay supercharged. A ported head with cams really helps the TVS come alive.

A properly built TVS car can be a mean setup, with a beautiful power curve.
I like the instant power of the supercharger but I hear the turbo has a huge top end. What I would ultimately shoot for is a DD with HP in the high 300s to low 400s. I'm still debating to save up or start buying parts for an SC build
As stated above more than that is barely useful in a fwd car but if you still want more there is always n2o check out japeaters car he will more than likey make over 500 on n20 but there is a whole hell of a lot more to his car than a tvs and nitrous
What mods did u have on the m62 for that power? Very impressive!
