So today my_bd and I were going to work on putting the engine back in. As I was prepping to install the flywheel, I happened to look at the housing for the oil filter. What I saw didn't look right so I removed the oil filter and guess what I saw????
The engine didn't do too well making it back home intact.
Apparently today is just another day in the life of cars & Rod.
I guess it is now a good time for me to take a nap.

 

That sucks!!!! I guess you will be sending that one back and getting a new one?

Man I would be all over the shipping company.... That doesn't even look weldable. I have seen it done where you machine off that assembly and tap the block with an fittings and run a remote mount oil filter and cooler, if it comes down to that.

It sucks that this is the weekend because I sit in limbo all weekend. The one good thing is that I will be in Toronto Tuesday morning and I can personally explode at everyone until this is resolved.

As for the JB weld, I need to invest in that company.

Because of my luck, there is no way this problem will be allowed any fix other than block replacement. I will be driving the engine too hard to take the chance that a mickey mouse fix will break.

 

So who will/should pay for this (hopefully not you)? JBP or the shipping company?

 

There's no possible way to do an external filter?

 

Frankly, I don't care. I took the hit for the pulley and there is no way that I am taking the hit for this. Enough is enough.

It is not just an external filter. The oil cooler mounts right there and I don't plan on starting to re-engineer this engine,

 

Rod if you have that cut off there is just 2 passages right there, they can be taped and have an fittings with no weakness to the block.

Vey odd, I'd be willing to be that it slid while on the pallet. I'm sorry you have to wait yet again Rod. Seems like GM has let you down once again.

Wow Rod sorry to hear about this. Terrible luck. All the things you're doing for cobalts, GM, and the business you're giving the shops and this is what happens. Keep your head up, we're all pulling for you.

 

The problem with that plan is
1) I need someone here who I can truly trust to do the work who knows what they are doing.
2) Someone else needs to pay for someone else to do that work.
3) Have you noticed my run of good luck? If that plan was going to fail, who is the one person it would fail on????
