Holy eff!
That sucks bad....

I've never looked into it, but I agree that a remote mount system is probably your best bet. It shouldn't be too bad of a job depending on how much you have to machine off, and how far the damage got into it.

The only problem with that in this case, is that unless they do it for free, he shouldn't have to do that. Its supposed to just have the regular filter. It would be neat to have the remote mount, but it's not Rod's responsibity to fix the damage that he didn't cause.

Exactly. Someone is paying and it isn't me.

This will work out and I don't hold JBP responsible except that they are the shippee and have to deal with the shipper.

That is my opinion too. The engine was insured heavily before being shipped.

The vultures are circling.......

Considering the new bottom end with forged pistons, I am thinking someone may want the parts swapped into the new block.

We will see this week.

While it is true that the block could live on with the damaged filter housing removed and a remote mount setup, doing this correctly would involve complete disassembly of the engine...there's no other way to 100% ensure that no metal particles end up in the bearings. So it's a very intense time commitment.

Rod, is it a stock or modified engine?

Another important point that would make it quite costly.

The bottom end was all rebuilt with stock GM parts and Wiseco forged pistons. As well the mains bolts were changed to studs.

Also, fwiw...JBP's immediate responsibility ends when the shipment leaves their facility. It's typically the receiver's obligation to work with the shipper in claims for damage. That's the starting point, in any case.

Brand-new, stock-bore block?

The last 2 times I had something damaged in shipping, the shipping company would only deal with the company who actually shipped the product.

This block had only 10K miles on it before this work was done and it is still a stock bore block.

I wish you the best of luck with this one buddy. Dealing with companies and shipping companies when there is a problem like this can really be a hassle. I am sure it will all work out for the best man.

I suppose policies may differ with different companies. Ah, I see you are in Canada. The laws may differ there.

Well, at least the parts could be easily swapped into another stock bore block then. Still a big job, but not as big as having to bore a block to match oversize pistons.

Good luck. Look at it this way...you've GOT to have all your bad luck out of the way by now. The future looks bright!

my_bd and I were talking about that at luch time. We concluded that either things will get better or a tire will blow, the first time the red car hits the track, causing me to have a really bad crash were I am left a quadrapalegic. I am hoping for the bad luck to have passed.

I googled the distance.....3,089 mi from my door. It'd take a few days

I think the bad luck is limited to the cars, not you.

LOL!!! I hope the bad luck has passed too!! I was in a car accident about a year ago. Broke my back in 3 places, was paralyzed for 3 weeks and 4 days and then i was....partially healed.

A year later I can walk around, drive, go out to dinner etc. I just have a bunch of pain in my legs, and a slight limp on the right side but hopefully that will pass in a few months.

For your sake rod, I really hope the bad luck has passed lol.

I broke my neck in '86 driving a car I bought with my insurance settlement I received for being hit by a car while I was riding my bicycle in '84. Car problems are preferred.
I hope you get back to 100%.

Thanks rod. I have beat all the odds and I am sure you will with your car also . I died on the operating table, had 2 spinal surgeries, my t12 shattered and was sticking into my spinal cord...but yet here I am able to walk and go out to dinner with my girlfriend in a few hours here.

I wish us both better luck!
