What the hell is taking so long????
I thought i was impatient!!!!! jeez I can wait for a couple months I would just like to know pricing and maybe some pics. I came from a 200 civic SI in blue, I had every mod at my fingertips. I realize that that won't happen for awhile with this car and I am ok with that. BUT when the new Si comes out and I start seeing them on the road I am going to want to show them all I can.
I have contacted someone from GM with some questions that are bugging me. price, release date, and stage 3? he said he was going to check with the right people and get back to me, he knows i work for GM so maybe Ill get some extra info....
who knows....anyways ill keep ya'll posted
I wouldn't plan on anything being expedited as far as the stage upgrades go with the situation GM is in financially. Don't forget the majority of the market are not performance enthusiasts like ourselves... it would be poor on the business side of things for GM to spend x amount of money and resources keeping a small portion of gear heads happy, rather than making vehicles that appeal to the masses in different levels of quality besides performance (safety, reliability, fuel efficiency, etc.)

Some of those posts are absolutely ridiculous , lmao
Their was a problem with whether the staged kits would pass emmissions . Problems like that eat time . Would you 1) rather wait for thought out kit with driveablity as good as stock , emmissions compatabilty if you live in smog testing states , full warranty support ect ect ect ect , ~or 2)do you want a 1/2 asses kit NOW without the bugs worked out . I applaud GM for taking it in the ass and not releasing the product till its 100% . Im so sick of aftermarket companies releasing flawed products just so its out there for people to buy . Settle down people .....geeez .
As far as the aftermarket is concerned . Your gonna wait for the aftermarket to repond on a first year entirely new nameplate . Especially from a manufacturer that has never had a compact car thats been taken all that seriously in the aftermarket . The hatred ALOT people have for the Cav certainly shows with all the bunk "fancy cavalier" generalazations unfairly slammed against the Cobalt SS . That makes it just that much harder for the Cobalt SS to be taken seriously . The Cobalt has 0% figures to go off either as far as aftermarket popularity goes . Sure there are some people that took the Cavailer and Sunfire and dumped a TON of cash into . But I bet for every 10 civics there are with a serious mods , like a turbo , forged engine internals , ported heads , cams ect ect there is maybe 1 Cav or Sunfire taken to that extreme , in a business sense ....translate that to a $$ figure and tell me as a company your gonna hop right on the Cobalt wave , uh sorry , but it aint gonna happen . Therefore the aftermarket isnt gonna resond as favorably to the Cobalt until it proven its market worthy . Youll get the simple parts released ....CAI , exhausts ect. which have already been out for awhile . How the Cobalt market resonds to the little stuff is gonna determain how well the stream of parts will flow . The 06 Civic Si will have a insanely better aftermarket than the Cobalt in its first year just because its a dead ringer the buyers are gonna be there due to its already proven rock solid support and popularity and Honda in general . Alot of people dont seem to have a problem rebuilding almost from the ground up a BRAND NEW civic . Can u say that about a Cobalt or even a Cavalier/Sunfire . Again be patient , the Cobalt is proving itself quite well ....and the very company(errrr GM) your cursing right now is doing wonders to make sure that happens . GM backed Cobalts are doing quite well in the Grand Am cup series , theGM built time of attack SS , the factory backed performance upgrades , the factory supported Phase 5 car , the ecotec support in drag racing ect ect . You should be praising the hell out GM right now because they are doing their damndest to create buzz for this car . And besides the staged kits are supposed to be realeased within a couple months .....again settle down .
Im really sorry if a pissed anyone off , haha ....Im sure I did . But alot of you (not all of you)need to stop acting like whiney brats and get fed a little reality check

Why then, did you even bother buying the car in the first place? For the amount of money you spent buying the car, plus the cost of the stage upgrades and labor charges to install them, you could have easily bought an STI, or Evo, or SRT-4 to begin with. I have the 06 S/C, and yes, i'd like to see some upgrades come out, but I'm not hurtin for em, and I damn sure didn't let the prospect of staged upgrade kits dictate my purchase, which is exactly what sounds like happened with some folks. I'm not trying to flame, but some of these posts just sound ridiculous.
Well said

Oh, please. Don't feel sorry for us.
Smart Driving + Good Winter Tires = Getting Thru Winter Just Fine
Not to mention, drive enuf winters in Ontario (in my case a mustang, a GT, and now my SS/SC) and you learn ... and get by just fine.

If you don't think performance has a big stake in GM car sales I don't think GM agrees. The are pretty much doing a special SS model for every model in the chevy line up.
Performance is taking a front seat in the auto industry, look at the other auto makers
Dodge= SRT Lineups
Ford= SVT, Corba, Maurader
GM= SS lines, Corvette Z06, GTO, SSR, V-series (drool)
Honda= 06 Civic Si, RSX-S
Subaru= STi
Mitsu= EVO's
I am sure I am missing a couple.
The time of the high performance automobile is coming back as SUV aren't as fashionable anymore and gas prices rise.
