what would be safe

Okay guys. Im wanting to go smaller pulley and larger injectors.. Thing is I don't have a tuner in iowa, nor one close enough to me. Now I know gm has stage 2 but its way overpriced. What im wondering is what would be a good size pulley kit and 42's with gm's "reflash" because from what I've read I can go to the dealership and ask for the latest reflash for like 100 bucks or so and its the same as the stage 2 tune.. Is that true?

Bump.... no one?

check out this thread:

we've been discussing the effects of the 2.9 on 42's. It depends where you live but a 2.9 is pushing them to the max. My suggestion would be a 3 inch.

Yah I found that 2.9 pushed my injectors over 100% so I ordered 60lb injectors. I would say stick with a three inch.

No you have to buy the stage2 kit to get the reflash from gm. The kit comes with a code that they use to download the reflash for your specific car.

Edit: actually though the stage1 reflash is the same.. you could just buy stage1 if you still want gm's tune. The dealer should reflash for around $100.

yes you are reading wrong. why would they flash a stock cobalt with a flash made for larger injectors????

you have to buy the stage 1 or 2 kit to get that flash. i would suggest looking for a good deal on a stage 1 kit on ebay or something, that comes with the injectors and the code for the flash. then you can just buy your own pulley and belt

If black06 has already tuned your car he could get a stage 2 tune from HPTuners. Of course make sure you have all the required parts, 42# injectors, belt, pulley, hub, bolts etc and he can flash it on since he's already licenced your car with his HPT.

If I was closer I'd do it for the cost of credits, I've got a GM 06 stage 2 tune on my computer. But I'm at least 10 gallons of gas away from you. The other thing you have to think about is if later down the road you take your car in for maintenance and they flash the PCM back to the stock tune because they suspect a problem with it. Just some thoughts....

except it wouldn't be a good idea to drive with your new set up this far without the flash. You'd be better off filling my tank with gas.

Well I have someone I could bring with me that would be able to do the install. Or what would you charge to install and tune? I've got an 06 as well
