ZZP header

I heard there were a lot of problems with them and i am in the market for a midlength combo and this seams to be cheapest. What are your guys thoughts about them and is it really worth it to get it ceramic coated?

i am currently using it and i have had no problems so i wouldent be worried( midlength combo) i would say most of the problems you hear from people are in the past i would not pay for ceramic coated unless u just want it to look pritty lol.( stainless is the way i would go... but its kinda costly)

i run the zzp heaher dp combo and the only complaint i have is the 2 hole flange. it blows out gaskets every once in a while.but havent looked lately to see if they changed to a 3 hole design. i wouldnt worry about the ceramic if your worried about heat just get some header wrap should be sufficent

Do not heat wrap the ZZP header. It will crack. I think they have all the issues solved if not just get it welded properly when you get it.

why would it make the header crack? it would help keep it from cracking because it cant cool off to fast.

from ZZP **Do not use exhaust wrap on tubular manifolds like this, it will cause the product to crack. Warranty will be void if heat wrap is used.

it says this about the shorty header but i'd imagine it would still apply on the midlength

hmmm interesting... if i saw that when i bought it i never would have. they are prob using inferior metal from china or something it makes no sense that it would crack. i wonder if the tubing or the welds are what cracks? either way doesnt make sense

Wrapping headers keeps the heat from escaping which causes the metal to reach much higher temperatures than it otherwise would.

just because the metal gets hotter than normal doesnt mean its going to crack. as long as its properly cooled it wont crack. warp mabye

The only problem with ZZP's midlength combo is the 2 bolt flanges that connect the header to the dp. I have broken a bolt and replaced the gasket for that connection with in the first 1000 miles but I haven't had a problem since. Austin you might want to get the ceramic coating if you drive your car in the winter.
