I don't think that was a valid dyno at all

I saw that show, all they had was like intake exhaust and a 75 shot...dont remember any mention of a header or downpipe or any other mods.

No way in hell that would happen with only those mods...

yeah datz wat im starting to think. because i haven't heard anyone talkin bout numbers like that. Also can the cobalt 2.2 even handle head work, cams, maybe cam gears, or other upgrades of that source (computer wise) without throwin a code? I highly doubt it but maybe someone else knows.

Why are the horsepower #'s only going up like 40 hp when people are running a 75 shot? Shouldn't you be closer to 200 hp and like 210 for torque?

because on avg. you lose 20% of your base hp at the fly wheel to the ground. 2.2L are 145 bhp thats about 115-120 hp at the wheels. some where around there. 75 shot - 20% is like 55hp or so. Roughly. There is a video, ill have to find it again, speed TV did a full exhaust, headers, high flow cat, pipes, and peformance muffler, Cold air intake and a 75 shot wet nitrous kit and they put down 194 wheel hp. once i find it i'll post the link. You might be able to find it if you search the speed TV web site.

And yes this was done on a 2.2L base modle

it was a few days ago when i seen the video. i cant find the link, ill see if i cant get delta 2.2 to post the link in here. if that is the case then that is even more impressive.

makes me feel like an idiot for droping 4,600 into my engine to just get my dyno to 149 whp

i dumped 4,600 alone into the engine. granted the only power adder i droped in was the cams, intake and exhaust. the other stuff was just to make the engine ready to handle 500hp. with the body kit, paint and other visuals ive tallied it up to 6,500 and some change. The only thing im waiting on is computer tuning. I go on deployment this holiday season so when i get back if there isnt any tuning out yet im going to go full stand alone and turbo it. Im going to let the same shop do the work / tuning for me because i have no clue about that stuff. ill let them do it and get me to 320 whp. thats my goal.

I was expecting a lil better #'s to of a 75 wet shot. I'm a lil surprised.

who cares about the HP #'s, thats just how the motor is designed

its not a 2.0, be concerned with the TQ #'s thats where our motor shines IMO.

It picks up 50-55 rwhp from 3500-4500 rpm. Thats likely close to 70 bhp. Considering that tailpipe sniffers show leaner than actual (close to engine) I would guess that car is like 9.0-9.5:1 at 5000+ rpm. It would pick up a fair amount of HP if you had it jetted leaner.

Most factory N20 Sytems are set to allow the engine to live at 3500 rpm. Based on drop off of both NA Torque Output from 4300 rpm to 6000 rpm and relative engine speed I estimate the engine could withstand a 63.8% increase in N20 at 6000 rpm with no increase in cylinder pressure compared to 4300 rpm currently. A rpm variable system could certainly pay dividends in this application.

So what your saying is that an ideal setup would let you run like a 75 shot until you got to about 6000 rmp and the have the shot increase to like 100 or 125?

An ideal system would be port and yes N2O injection would vary with rpm. With single point wet systems you can run into distrubution issues. With single point dry systems you have other issues as well.

For a set quantity single point system you have to limit the N2O to the safe quantity for the minimum rpm at which you engage it.

My main point was that the system does add close to the advertised 75 bhp in the 3500 rpm - 4500 rpm range. There is simply not enough N2O to add that at 6000 rpm but with that much N2O at 3500 rpm you would likely damage the engine from the extreme cylinder pressure.

All of that extra torque (100 lb-ft at crank) immmediately after a gear change will improve the performance all out of proportion to a 37.5 bhp (crank) gain peak. This is why we talk in terms of power under the curve instead of peak hp. It is very possible to increase peak hp and lose performance. Peak numbers are for dyno racing....

Yes he is jetted way rich up top. 10.5 with a sniffer is 9.5:1 or so closer to the port. Needs to drop the fuel jet.
