I took mine off today and did notice a difference in the throttle response, plus, I love the Growl. I was looking at the silencer after I removed it, and was wondering if it would be better if I either made a pipe, so the car would be taking in cooler air or even removing the Boxes from the piping on the silencer, plugging them, and putting the pipe back in place to get cooler air. Has anybody tried this, or do you think it would make a difference. My car has a Black "grill looking" cover, where the base model would normally be sealed off and I can theres a hole where the foglight would mount.

I haven't removed mine yet, but based on the pictures I've seen I agree with you that it would make sense to replace the piece removed with a straight pipe through the old outlet so it'll pull cooler air without the disruption of the big boxes.

Exactly, I'm tuned for it

Does anyone have a video of the sound difference before I take the time to rip mine out?

pointless.... just make a CAI with autozone parts, or buy one from ebay then put a k&n filter or some other aftermarket filter on it. Doesn't cost that much and you can sell your stock air box or save it incase you ever want to sell the car. Besides CAI is proven(dyno) power gains that you can see before you buy.

Basically I removed the factory silencer out of the front of the air box which i didnt think was so big until I pulled it out of there. Looks stock, But It made a huge difference in throttle response, no more sluggish delayed response when you hit the gas, and it sounds better with a nice deep tone when you get on it. hope you all enjoy it, next will be a cheap custom pipe from the other side of the box to the throttle body.

1. remove headlight and headlight bracket:

2. remove the entire silencer assembly from the car, which you then have a huge open space.

3. This is the air silencer. Very restrictive...

4. This is the stock base of the factory airbox.

5. This is the whole on which the factory silencer tube was running though. Now it is just in the open space which if you have factory fog lights the grates will allow cold air to rush in there. If not there is plenty of cold are coming in from the side of the radiator and the body.

finally re-install the headlight bracket and the factory airbox and it looks perfectly stock it will not void any warranties that I know of.

Hope this help everyone, like I said the sound and the throttle response alone is pretty amazing. As far as mileage not sure yet, but I will comment on that as soon as I see what it does.

I would definitely get a pipe to route itself some air that isn't next to the radiator.

I would also replace that accordian POS section near the TB with a straight pipe.
