hey bro... ive got an 08 LT too. u can go full bolt on parts i.e. headers, downpipe, intake, cat back, intake manifold, throttle body from a 2.4L, spark plugs, and a good tune. that would prolly get u 220hp but not 200whp. thats pretty much how ive built my car. its not bad but im gonna supercharge mine evenually...

I would say port and polish the head, get a full 3in header back exhaust with no cats. Youll need a nice cold air intake and fairly large cams but it should be doable. Im into hondas and its fairly easy to get 220-230 from a 1.6L so I dont see why its so hard for a 2.2.

I'd like to ask all of the guys that went for the 200whp N/A if they would do it over the same way.

I went as far as i could without getting crazy and I'm kinda mad I went that direction. Waste of time money and pain.

yes...unique, fun, can do over time (unlike boost which you pretty much have to do almost all at once), etc

i may have done a bit more research first so i didnt do somethings more then once, but all in all its been great

no way it will get you 220hp, not happening EVER with those mods
you MIGHT see 180-185 crank hp and then compensate for whp from that

i honestly dont see why you cant get 200whp or more, i know a few guys here witht he H22A (JDM H22) making 225-255whp.
the H22 is still a 2.2 and what most of them have done is this
11:1 compression P5P pistons, OEM type S
Head milled 0.030", yielding roughly 11.7-11.8:1
Skunk2 Pro1 cams
Head ported and polished, 5 angle valve job, port work by Dave Lind
Skunk2 modified intake manifold, ported and reworked, S2000 ported throttle body
10 lb chromoly flywheel, unorthodox crank pulley
4-2-1 JDM Feels header, full 2.5" exhaust, no cat
Tuned with CromePro, made 220whp and 158wtq

the ones who changed their cranks made a bit more power

Something that you can look up for more N/A power is ITB's. Idk if anyone has done them to a cobalt yet so that would be sweet.

For me N/A is so much fun but there are so many much faster cars in my area that make me want more, and i'm already on a built motor and alot of nitrous not to mention if you do it right later on down the road you could add a supercharger without a problem.

no one has because of the issues with merging the cable actuated itbs with the fly by wire system in place as well as injector setups and such

i have done a lil research but its goign to be abotu 2-3k just for the itb setup...not worth it until everything else is already done

and i love my n/a, fun to drive, get funny looks cause its a 4 banger with a lope :P

just is fun

But it would not be efficient to build a high compression n/a motor, and then decide to drop a turbo on it.
