Can you tell a 2.2 from a 2.4 VVT from the outside?

Can you tell a 2.2 VVT from a 2.4 VVT from the outside?

I looked at a block today with 69K on it advertised as an 08 2.4. It sure doesn't look like a 2.4. Is there any way to tell from the outside?

I have the number but didn't have any service there. Now that I am home I don't see where to look it up.

Numbers on the timing cover tell you nothing. They all share the same cover. Oil filter housing should tell you.

As posted above, 197119238 are suppose to be the last 9 digits of the VIN on the oil filter boss.

Thanks Kolt... I knew you would figure it out. Any way to tell what it was pulled from? A Cobalt sedan?
