Does the motor pull out the top or bottom?

Got a motor and transmission with less miles, does it pull out from the top or from the bottom?

ha u can do either. if your taking out BOTH the tranny and motor id do the bottom but ur probobly gonna have to remove ALOT more parts than if you were going to just take out the motor from the top.

pull the head off with the motor in, and then drop the motor out the bottom. I have access to a car lift. if your just changing pistons you wont have to remove the block. what r u doing?

Bottom. Just drop the sub frame but disconnect all the other parts first

Cobalt is easiest to do from the bottom. Unbolt the subframe and lift the car off.

GM Performance Division :: Performance Pulse :: Tech Manuals

See the LSJ power manuals at the bottom. Chapters 1 and 2 go over removing the engine.

Thanks guys...i had a blown head gasket on mine and i figured if i was gonna mess with the motor that was in there i might as well rebuild it cuz it had 115,000 miles, well i ended up finding a motor and tranny with 26,000 on it for $400 so i couldnt pass it up..thx again for the help
