how about you do it yourself for free...thats what i did...even if you dnt have a compressor any autopart store will compress your spring and take it off for you for about 10 bucks a spring. its more satisfying taking pride in yuor own work IMO

When I was a boy my father used to tell me that "hard work is its own reward", now that I am grown, and my father is also my friend, weve talked about things he taught me........and both agree..........thats a load of crap.

Hey guys, I'm going to be ordering a coilover kit for my balt. I've been reading up, and I've seen a lot of how to's on the front intallation, but nothing for the rear, and I just noticed today that the spring and strut arnt a single unit on the rear. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for installation in this case? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

jack the car, take off the wheels, and take off the 2 bolts holding in the strut... that's about it. the strut will come off, the spring will come out. put the coilovers in, and re-tighten the 2 bolts you took out. the rear should not take more than 10-15 minutes max for a first timer after the car is jacked and the wheels are off. literally, jacking the car and taking off the tires takes more time than removing the rear springs.

And in the back, it's technically known as a shock, not a strut.
