transmission ?

i was wondering if anyone knew if a 06 ls transmisson would fit on a 07 is there any differences between the two i found a 06 transmisson for 500

Why do you need a new transmission? As long as you aren't trying to do something stupid like go from auto to manual it should work. If they're both automatics there could possibly be an issue if there are TCM issues, but aside from that I don't see why not. Manual to manual should be no problem.

i lost my second gear last spring and gm wont cover it under warenty and the want almost 2000 just for the tranny so im just gonna buy a used one and my buddys gonna put it in for me there both 5 speeds id figure i asked b4 i bought cause knowin my luck there would be something different between the two

thye're both the F23...same tranny. the only difference in years is a different PCM for the cars, but i dont think that would matter for a manual tranny install

Yup that was my thoughts too. Manual tranny should be fine.

Maven will chime in here after a while, mechanically it will work, but you might have tcm issues.

im most likely gonna sound dumb but i thought only autos had a tcm and is it a seperate computer if so where is it in the car

our cars have a PCM (powertrain control module). It serves as both a TCM and a ECM in one.

losing 2nd gear aint fun, had it happened to me on thanksgivig. dealership didnt want to cover it, i just fought with them for 2 weeks till they gave up and fixed it

lol a new tranny ? not under warranty? lol Ide sue. no **** no lie go call your lawyer , Clutches arent covered but tranny's are. unless you broke it because of recaing or whatever and thats why they wont but if my tranny goes out before 100k you best beleive I will not be paying for it ! and neither should you my friend.

x2. AFAIK only auto trans cars would have a problem with TCM issues.

06's have a 60k mile powertrain warranty,

The trans between 06-07 Cobalts are swappable, MAKE SURE its a Cobalt trans trans though, if its a VUE or an Ion trans it wont bolt up to the mounts properly afaik.
