starting a thread for my build ..im going turbo on my le5 (most parts already in the mail! )
i wasnt going to post a thread because i know all the negative feed back im about to get but f*** it ..i think this will be interesting to see the responses and quite frankly just see what happens! ..after months of researching what will be best and y and how and blah blah ..ive decided to go with an ebay turbo! ..i kno ..i kno.. but to be honest (no offense to anyone whos goan zzp or hahn ..more power to ya) i dont see the logic in spending 3k + on a le5 ..i can get for 400 to 500 bucks..if i blow the engine ..ahhh man ..400 dollars and ill lift and drop a new one (ill probably buy one first and build it for a while )..if the turbo craps out ..ahh man 150 dollars down the drain ..what a shame ..it will be fun to play with and no matter what happen..alot cheaper !

ill be happy with 8 psi

ide really like any input (negative or positive)and think this will be an interesting thread

 

No offense but you need to do a lot more research if you have to ask all those questions and think that wasting time with an ebay turbo kit is no biggie

im not asking much besides anything tuning related .. and really wanted to throw some kind of question in there to get something started ..mechanically not much of this is over my head at all..besides ..the more u do the more u learn

 

lol u may be right sir..and if soo..as i said ide honestly have a good time dropping another engine..ive had cars i never had to touch ..and its simply boring ..

 

why dont you do it right the first time. It will save you money in the long run.

then why do it if you know the outcome?

 

my point is i wont be wasting money ..the money spent will be on a good time at worst ..and something to do ..and worst case scenario i start back from scratch and try something different

 

That's a very expensive good time. It'll be a much better time for you if you do it right the first time

 

you will be wasting money if it breaks and you keep replacing motors. might at well spend the 1.5k-3k on a good set up and be good to go.

 

i cant tell u how often im watching lil crx's and teggys and what not walking on 80 thousand dollar cars with there lil ebay set ups..and no1 says much because its like oh its just a sh**ty little honda or w.e.
mean while a good 90% of those engines are way more expensive then our le5 ….

 

so the real reason for the ebay kit is because your cheap and want be like honda people?

 

i have yet to find a good set up for 1.5 k

 

how bout a stock turbo kit from a tc cobalt? i could have got one for 800

So if your car is so shitty and cheap, why do you want to mod it at all?

 

so why did you buy the car if you dont like it. And why are spending money on it. The 2.4 has alot of potential if you buy GOOD kit. could easily run 12s

that makes me sad lol ..but i could not find such a deal..i could def find the turbo with exhaust manifold and wastegate for about 800..cold not find everything ..
ps not everything i named in that parts list is ebay ..

 

ya my tuner was selling his stock kit for 800. and why dont you piece together a real quick over time

 

i dont hate my car by any means ..im just not going to act like its something its not ..yes i could drop 4 on it and get 12s..
its just a sad that the srt4 could drop 2 and get the same

 

thats awesome and wish i was so fortunate but could not come across a deal like that ..and in all reality thats what im doing
