Boost on the LE5 Inquiries

How are you guys doing with your boosted 2.4's with the higher (10.4:1) compression ratios? It's easy to boost a low compression motor, but I'm looking at a high compression build of my own and wanted to get some feedback from people who've done it.

Any problems tuning? Any downfalls of your cars? Any hit to mpg?

Anything would be helpful! Thanks!

even though the motor is a higher compression motor compared to the lsj, the LE5 responds quite well to boost. ZZP's stage 3 kit has hit 350 whp on all stock internals except for 78lb valve springs.

MPG wont change much if you stay out of the boost for daily driving, its of course going to be worse if you have a lead foot lol

Hey Celica, havnt talked to you in awhile. What ended up being wrong with your tranny? the clutch packs take a ****?

To the original poster, its been holding out fine. The car after awhile will have its problems, but i've had my car boosted since the day that hahn released the kit. I purchased the kit the same day, and picked it up the next day.

Just like any car, you will have problems. Mine of which arnt serious and can be fixed inside of a few hours with minimal effort.

the clutch packs were wasted. not sure if there was more damage, never looked further. Just got a full built one with an lsd and never looked back.

higher compression would keep MPG higher than a low CR engine
you compensate for the higher CR in the tune by running less timing
all ecotecs loove boost
if you get paranoid about the higher CR, you can always strap on a meth kit.

Good info. I didn't realize the timing was changed in the tune! Someone asked me about how the differences in compression were taken care of and I didn't know, lol.
