I used to use it with my 100,000+ mile 99 Grand AM. But haven't messed with it in the Cobalt... you shouldn't need it... and you definitely don't need it every 3,000 IMO. It's like Diet Coke for Fat people. I prefer to give my Injectors plenty of Exercise!

Ya thats true but arbon build up happends eventually even with the best gas in th world because combustion isnt 100% power efficient there is always going to be left over residue in your engine etc...

yaeh your right. I'm just saying with the older stations there might not be good (if any) filters on the pumps so there is the potential to get some dirty gas in your tank. Thats my theroy. Now somebody might prove me wrong.

Actually... if you were to use Gasoline from a Marathon station... you wouldn't have to add anything, because "Marathon Gas --- Now with STP additives!" But it is only 94 octane. We just had a Sunoco open in my town... I'm curious as to what octanes they will be carrying.

Personally, in every vehicle I have owned, including my Cobalt SS, I add a bottle of STP High Performance Fuel Injector Cleaner to a full tank of gas, after every oil change. I get my oil changed every 5,000 kms like clockwork.
Fuel injectors can be expensive to replace and they typically don't fail until later in the vehicle's life (unless faulty), so it's a preventive measure, plus it helps the residue from ever building up.
You never really have any idea what the true quality of gas is from any station, the condition inside the fuel tanker truck that delivered it to the station, the condition of the underground storage tanks that feed the pumps etc. Moreso in the case of independent fuel stations, you also have to trust that regular octane gas isn't being sold for the higher octane prices. Lots of tricksters out there!

BTW, the oil life monitor typically shows between 55 and 65% oil life remaining when I get the oil changed at this interval.
Am I perhaps getting the oil changed before I NEED to. Maybe. But I'm gonna keep doing it every 5,000 kms anyways. No harm in having nice fresh super slick oil going through your engine. And no harm in having the fuel pass more easily through nice clean fuel injectors.

The fuel additives are not covered by warranty, GM much like all car companys will use this as leverage if you need to replace your injectors/fuel system/ engine etc. I use it every now and then. Just make sure you do it on a full tank and dont overkill it, you will be fine.
